Here the hot springs, erupting geysers and bubbling pools of boiling mud dominate a fascinating landscape. We take the Hakone rope way from Sounzan down to Togendai on lake Ashinoko. We take a boat journey around the lake which is a water filled volcanic crater with a circumference of 18K. We are now making our way to Tokyo by ...

After two beautiful days of weather today was horrible. It rained a lot but worst of all it was foggy which was less than ideal for what we had planned for the day. We were booked onto a day trip to visit Mount Fuji and Hakone National Park. Our first stop was Mount Fuji. The plan was to drive to the 5th station, however the weather prevented this with the road up closed due to snow. We were only able to get as far as the 1st station where we could see pretty ...

I'm off to Nagoya tomorrow as I head more into western ...

... to a theme park it is unbeatable, it's size and scale and proximity are amazing and it isn't done justice in the photos at all. Our hotel tonight is more Crossroads motel than Hilton but we did pop across the road for an Italian (of sorts). The town here has an American drive-thru kind of vibe but it is also the place where we've seen the least English so far. It's back to Tokyo tomorrow and goodbye to rural ...

      Mount Fuji? Where?

... got cold by the end of the day. Luckily we'd planned for a hot spa caper again, it really is the only thing to do when it's wet! I don't have photos for today, sorry, will load some up at the end of the trip (not sure who I'm telling this to, the odd thing about writing a blog is the thought that you are just writing it for future-you to ...
