          ... a drink at the tea house. However, we did peek inside the family-run establishment that has been serving refreshments for over 350 years. A large pot being heated over an open fire filled the room with the smell of wood smoke, and had Will wanting to call Fireman Sam (his favorite TV fire hero).           ... consisting of a number of small varied dishes. And varied they are. At one point Mary's cousin exclaims "well, I think there is something edible in there." There are beautiful pieces of sashimi, plenty of rice, pickled vegetables, miso soup, white wallpaper paste and something that looked like a cross between a chestnut and a mushroom.           ... so you were expected to do all of your washing in the onsen. After a long day on your feet it was very nice to relax and cook yourself in the hot water... Our room also had a traditional $500 toilet seat, this one heated and offering you even more services once you finished your business!
