... pass quickly. We were glad we had brought our supplies with us: a 500ml bottle of water cost $5.5 up there! As we reached the upper slopes we were forced to slow down; all of us were noticing the thinner air.

But our pace was good and at about 1:45 we reached the crater rim. From there it was 30 minutes around to the actual summit on the far side of the crater. We were in a cloud sandwich: cloudy skies above, and a valley filled ...

We arrived at the top, 3,776 m height, in good time. we enjoyed a really expensive coffee and noddle soup at the one station hut near the crater.

... with what we could do, especially as most of the attractions are outside. We stayed in a lovely traditional Japanese Inn (Suimeiso) with its own onsen. Our room was typical, with one large, simply furnished room used as a sitting room, dining room and bedroom. The floor is covered with tatami (closely woven straw) mats and for dinner low tables and cushions were brought in and then removed and replaced with thin "futon" mattresses for sleeping. During our stay we were ...

8 km walk from walk Magemo to Tsumago.

The guide book and the tourist information centre told me that it would take 3hours to walk it.
However I only had 2, as I got up way to late to actually do this walk. What can I say i did it in 1 1/2 hours :)

Rock'n Roll!!!! found the coolest little coffee shop in Tsumago.

... pull out and make up futon beds for you. Then breakfast is served in the room as well. We were hoping that the food would justify the high price to stay there, and we weren't disappointed. The dinner consisted of about 20 little dishes, some hot, some cold. We had lots of fish dishes, Japanese pickles and many things we couldn't identify. The ...
