At the beginning of the red-blue state divide
... to the Battery area. So much renovation of amazing stately homes. Saw bumper sticker, Gut Fish, not Houses.
From Bay St. we could see Fort Sumter way in the distance. We passed on the shuttle boat to take us out there, but we visited the Museum. So much history.
Tomorrow we plan to make the 15 minute drive to Folly Beach, hoping to capture a Pat Conroy feeling.

Sun (at last), plantations and old syle colonial
... of the old houses there, to eat, then to a concert - The History of Charleston Through Music - which was great with good performers doing classical, civil war, gospel and jazz. Then we went on to the theatre - November by David Mammet, a political comedy. But it wasn't possible to tell if the script was any good because the acting was awful (amateur - hadn't spotted that in advance) so we ducked out at the interval and wandered around South Carolina in the dark for ...
Final Packing & Other Stuff
We're done packing except for the few bathroom necessities we will need in the morning.Tomorrow we pack the dog off to the kennel for his doggie vacation and then our very helpful neighbor packs us off to the airport. Then we pack ourselves into the packed seats in the plane, right after we pack our carry-on into the overhead bins. Bet you're thinking I'm a Green Bay fan by now.

Charleston
... one of the most ornate houses inside with all the wood work around the mantles and the trim work around the rooms. Unlike the other houses they let you take pictures inside and Jared took a bunch. One room had a really cool door jam that had marks to measure the height of the children who lived there. We did do some walking around the grounds afterwards, but one of the owners after the civil war had everything removed from the grounds that would show ...
Sisyphean Surfers, Dolphins & Holiday Lights
... several dolphins. There were also people attempting to surf. The waves weren’t good. The surfers spent most of their time floating on their boards waiting for a wave only to ride it for a few seconds at best. As we ate dinner beside the pier, we watched a lone surfer who rode only two short waves the entire time we were there.
