    Today we are taking a tour which will be in Japanese and Maki will translate. We are quite surprised to be the only people on the tour and so it is just us, a guide and driver. A unique feature of this company's tour is that the guide sings her commentary in a traditional style from many years ago. It was quite nice but also quite weird.     Today we are catching the bullet train to Kokura and then a local train on to Beppu. Maki's children are both at university in Beppu which is a city on the island of Kyushu famous for the hot springs that are very active in this area.
