Day 6: Graz

... cold out. A few things I learned about Austria from talking to Andi, not necessarily all on this walk:

  • There is such a thing as Winter and Summer car tyres. As Andi was moving to Peru he was selling his car and he loaded it with 4 extra tyres in the boot. I asked him what they were and he said those were his Summer tyres and he showed me the differences in the thickness and tread between the two. ... Um, I wouldn't dream of it.
"And children are allowed in here?" I asked shocked.
"Of course. It's normal here. Children grow up being comfortable about their naked bodies."

Hmm, another thing that's different in Australia. No one would dare have children mixed in a naked sauna this way. Especially with older men. It would be too 'graphic' or 'unsavoury' for them, when in actual fact, is just a natural thing. I can see why I myself had already begun ...

The best part was that the bus basically took me back to where my plane from Calgary originally landed (woo!) But I made it, sweaty mess and al. The captain has informed me that it is "winter in Graz at -2" (that's cute). Also remind me to fly Lufthansa all the time, they don't serve dinky pretzels you have to share with 10 other people, you get an entire...sandwich.

Hartberg is a very cute little town and our hotel is beautiful! Situated next to the castle, the Alter Gerischtof is sophisticatedly decorated and very well presented. My room is rather large! With big bay windows that open out onto a balcony. The bed is SO comfortable I literally feel like I'm sleeping in a marshmallow. Breakfast is alright... No toast though. And you have to pay for eggs! So I guess it's another week of eating muesli!! On ...
