... has been out learning to surf each day. We decided to go down to the canal and rent out kayaks regardless of the weather. When we reached the kayak store again the rain was pouring down and the lady thought that we were insane to go out but we had dedicated ourselves to the cause. The plan was to kayak upstream until we come to a lagoon which I was excited to see as I was picturing a small glistening bright blue pool like the lagoons you see in the sides of mountains. It ...

        Back to Fortaleza

We woke up at 0500 after what felt like a very deep sleep (for once) and quickly ate breakfast and drank the last of the coffee before making our way down to the rendezvous point at 0555. We loaded our bags onto the truck and sat back to admire the last of the sand dunes of Jeri as we bumped up and down over each uneven surface. Good start. But ...

We got up at 0700 on the hope of beating the heat and squeezing in a workout before it was unbearable. We threw our gear on and made the quick jog to the beach. It was not cool at all. It was sweltering and only 0715. We managed to do a decent routine despite the heat but had to end it within half hour as it was getting ridiculous. We ducked into the water to cool off and the water was perfect. So refreshing and a great start to the day. We walked back to ...

... beach, this is not the place unless you move away from the centre of town to a more private area. This resort-like beach scene was one I am glad I experienced but definitely not my favourite. We were seated on plastic chairs at a table under the sun umbrellas by the beach and had to fend off the annoying incessant peddling...Peddling of jangada (fishing boat) rides, donkey, horse or (unlicensed) dune buggy rides on the beach, food, souvenirs of all kinds, surfing and ...
