... white wine, but it also comes in red and prosecco. Later we had knödel and strudel and we saw Ötzi. that was very good. They had a whole exhibition on the fidings and the science and everything. The last floor was the fun floor, where they showed all the letters they got from people trying to tell them that they recognized ötzi to be one of their relatives or something. There is certainly plenty to occupy those that are not avid walkers in this town, with numerous shops and cafe's, all of which are set in modern, yet mediterranean feeling surroundings. Chess, Cherries, Grappa & Ceramics
Caught bus to town of Marostica - about 45 min trip. Town kniwn for giant chessboard in front of lower castle. Legend has it two suitors wanted to marry lord of castle. He forbade duel but instead fight it out in game of chess. Also famous for cherries. Not in season now so had to make do tasting cherry liquer ( very nice ) and lollies. Very quiet, clean town. Then onto another bus for 15 min ride to Bassano. ...
