Traveling from Chamonix to Lake Annecy we went through some breathtaking views through the Alps. The city is quite gorgeous, a favorite Lakeside destination for French families in summer. After a walk through 'Little Venice' taking the sights of a town voted the most beautiful in France, i had a lovely lunch of the local (from Nice) Niçoise salad in a central location before taking the one hour boat trip on the lake. We saw the ...

In the pretty city of Chambery, we met another French visitor from 18 months ago, ...

... surfers, but I would not have liked being out in a small boat fishing! The weather picked up over the bank holiday weekend - it's a holiday in France too. We have had patches of lovely warm sunshine, but most of the time there has been a wind. It comes off the lake and has a cutting edge to it. Our next planned stop was an aire at La Breole. It was a building site. The commune were putting up a building and had fenced off part of the aire for access ...

Never Rains In Southern Grenoble (To the tune of)

... It started to rain at about 6 on Thursday, got heavier during the night and is forecast to last the rest of Friday before normal service of mid-20s and Sun is resumed on Saturday so today is a bit of a washout. We restocked the iron rations and filled up (fuel prices up from Lux but still around 1/l)
Hope to visit the Chateau of The Domaine de Vizille, very close to the campsite which was the birthplace of the French Revolution (Vive La Revolution!) and possibly a day in ...
