Back to the land of pay toilets. Don.t know why that bothers me so much but it does. It just doesn.t seem right. Anyway, we are now in Assisi. We got off the boat and it was raining, and then we had to take a detour to Assisi. the road was very narrow and hilly, It was a little tense for awhile. Saw St Francis ...
Assisi, Umbria, Italy bbirm... pizzeria where I had delicious lasagna. After lunch we browsed through the many stands. Sample after sample led to some major purchases. It was hard to pass up the various chocolate products when the smell just filled the air. There was everything from chocolate beer to chocolate “pills” to chocolate pasta!!

Heaven.

I’ll update you soon,

Siara
Perugia, Umbria, Italy siarakelyndali... we made our way to some of the cathedrals and then down to the main center of chocolate wonders. I sasw a block of chocolate the size of a human being that was being cut with a giant saw the crumbled with a sledge hammer and sold by the gram.

By now the day was winding down and we had a long drive ahead so we made our way back down the hill and drove leisurely home!!

Good job, well done!
Perugia, Umbria, Italy davefremland... My friend has a nice, sparsely decorated flat in the heart of the village. We settled in and then went to the neighboring town of Amelia for a nice dinner.

Licia had worked in that region for a few months and had been recommended to a good restaurant near Amelia. We drove over the rolling hills to the small hilltop village ...
Perugia, Umbria, Italy davefremland... the pool but the second day we went back into Perugia and had a look around before catching a train to Assisi. The train station isn't in the centre of Perugia, so we had to catch a mini-metro to the top of the hill which gave us a great view before exploring the town on the way back down. We spent the afternoon in Assisi, a short train ride from Perugia.
Assisi is a major destination for millions of pilgrims due to its religious ...
Perugia, Umbria, Italy steveandwhitney... this route before it was through the dark and didn't see any of the beauty) from Florences was some of the most beautiful we have seen so far in Italy. The train takes you past Lago Trasimeno a drop dead gorgeous lake with picturesque islands floating on its crystal surface, surrounded by lush green hills. Now this is the real heart of Italy, were you slow your pace to suit the life around you.

One of Italy's best preserved hill towns ...
Perugia, Umbria, Italy dinoshona... Patrick ended up helping me and we totally ended up making a box fort, it was awesome but had to be taken down so we could make a wall behind the buffet instead.

We ended up making a wall and a pyramid, it was quite fun and it took a lot of strategy to try and make sure it wouldn't fall down as soon as someone touched it (the wall lasted the whole afternoon and through until about 8:30, which was quite good considering the number of people walking ...
Perugia, Umbria, Italy kins... is good teaching. . . Both Em and Malcolm stressed that the key defintely is diffferentiated instruction. They did a great job - they were organized, articulate and knew their stuff. Unfortunately, I was unprepared and didn't bring a camera so I don't have pictures of them in my classroom. On Thursday we went to Assisi, which I have already talked about on this blog. Then we spent a great, sunny, weekend in Rome doing all the ...

Perugia, Italy chella... spend a whole day traveling, then have the night taken away from you, then spend the whole next day traveling. (Oh and by the way half of that trip I had a 4 year old kicking the living hell out of the back of my seat.) After the first flight we had a two hour layover in Heathrow airport. The next flight took off at what should have been 4am at home, but was really 9:10 ( well I lie, the flight was delayed so we took off at 10:30 ish.) I slept a little but it was so cramped and loud ...
