Golf Hotel Eze

ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.

I know I always write the same...great weather, such a nice city, good food....but I have to say that Nice was a (very) big surprise for me, I can say that it is my favourite city in Europe (ok, number 2 after Lisbon). You have the mountains, the Cote dŽAzur (when you see the water you know why the name is Cote dŽAzur), the market with fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, oil, soap, you have great restaurants ...

It is Sunday and very wet and miserable here in Antibes. Quite a change from the glorious day we had yesterday. Ideal for computer work in fact... (Except that then things didn't pan out as planned and it is now Monday)

... peculator brewing, and more often than not scrambled eggs. Lunch is usually a baguette stuffed with loads of fresh salad, stinky cheese (the smellier the better!!) and Parma ham. Our dinner staples are Spaghetti Bolognaise, Pork Fajitas, Hamburgers with the LOT, Cous Cous ala Gill with chicken and of course no meal starts without the obligatory Ham cheese and olive tapas and a bottle of wine. The next day we had a full free day of wandering and sight-seeing. We walked along the Promenade des Anglais and climbed to the top of a cliffside to take in the breathtaking views of the promenade, the azure blue ocean and its beachfront and the old town from Parc du Chateau. We took heaps of photos then spent most of the afternoon chillaxing. In the evening we had a really nice dinner ...

... a bit of Surfers Paradise (but much much nicer) in the sense that its very much a beachy place, and there seem to be lots of older people here who tan themselves orange and seem to have lots of dosh?

As the weather was a bit average the next day, Dee decided to hit the affordable shopping strip and was pleasantly surprised as she finally had a good solid afternoon of shopping (oh yeah!!!) and Lewey has been promoted to a gold/baby-star-wearing-man for his patience and ability to hold ...

... about an hour's travel we came across some queuing and the driver went onto the back roads. These were narrow and really country tracks and on one occasion we came to a low bridge which we had to reverse. Temperatures were very high. We finally got to Avignon about 1.30pm which was behind time. We had an hour there but would have liked more. It was lovely and many photos were taken. Plenty of markets here. ... nougat to pieces. After raiding the sweet shop, we went off in search of food. We ended up stopping at a little bakery where I got a nice warm croissant au chocolat. It was great. After lunch we headed back towards the meeting place though we still had a little while to spare. With time to kill and what felt like money to burn, we raided a souvenir shop. 10-15 minutes later, I walked out with a soldier figurine for my brother and more postcards ...
