Awaking each morning to tea and toast etc. served to our room whenever we desire (6:30 for me) and having it on the balcony as the ship comes in to the next port is an unforgettable experience. This we did again today as we arrived at Marseilles - La Joliette. The view is stunning and we later enjoyed it more as we had 'proper breakfast' on the Terrace upstairs with John and Melinda. Then off on our meanderings into Marseille. After a good ...

Built in the mid 1800s in Roman Byzantine style the Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica is the most magnificent building of its kind in southern France but presented a challenge in climbing the 120 steps to gain entry to the lift. At one point Bailey was excited to see the prison on the island right off shore that housed the "Count of Monte Cristo". She says that was ...

... had a friend who had some sort of second home in Bandol, about 10 miles West of Toulon. She said Bandol was like Toulon, but less rich, which sounded good to us. That friend called at breakfast, and we could tell from Nadia’s expressions and the little bits of French we could pick up that we were going to have a roof over our heads that night.
Nadia sent us on our way and, instead of heading directly to the coast, we turned East a bit towards ...

We board our cruise with the royal caribbean on the 12th May. We have previously been on the princess cruise line before we had toddler so we had lots to compare to. Although we were on a higher class ship with princess we were disappointed with the quality on the royal caribbean. Very little hot water in the shower, slow service, old boat, toddlers not allowed to swim, allocated seating for dining and the list goes on. Although, I do think that the buffet ...
