Amorous or Foolhardy?

... 8230;

First of all, we had a deadline. Something neither of us are accustomed to dealing with right now. Ferry departs Marseille at 7pm. Brian was concerned about covering the 100 km distance and finding the port in time. So, up extra early and on the road withour even eating breakfast! After all of the worry and fussing, and snaps of the whip to go ‘faster’, we arrived at the port at ...

NO Marseille for the Caswell's today!!

NO MARSEILLE for us!!! The captain went by when we had 21 foot waves and winds of 50 gusting to 65. It was sunny but not good enough to dock in Marseille, so on to Barcelona we go. In spite of it, we had a great relaxing day and i had a 3 hour nap this afternoon. Naps are totally not my thing but apparently i was exhausted from our whirlwind schedule. Anyway, nothing exciting. We have seen numerous people in arm slings and just ran into a woman in a ...

What a nice surprise

... handstands and all the rest.... spend hours cleaning the sand out of our bags and clothes! The next day was a stunning 26 degree day.. so so so nice. We never thought we would be at the beach again. Were tempted to stay but found out the next 2 days were not going to be great weather. Sadly we headed off at 4pm to head to Avignon.. Saying goodbye to the med forever was very hard.. and sad....
LOST & FOUND IN MARSEILLES- BLUE BALLS & ALL

... ask where they will sleep and what they will eat?" Yep, I reckon that’s about all they do. Jesus was lucky; he never had to score WiFi. But he could multiply fishes; now THAT’S cool.

Sometimes I tell my wife when I feel she’s not being appreciative that all she has to do is close her eyes, click her heels three times, then re-open her eyes and everything she needs is right within her grasp ...

VISIONS OF MARSEILLES

... br>
Marseilles hotels are almost TOO cheap, but some close the doors early, and some are simply- I never thought I’d say this- below my standards. In France that means not only might there not be a shower attached to the room, but THERE MIGHT NOT BE ONE IN THE ENTIRE HOTEL. I’m not joking, and places that basic might be rare nowadays, but optional bath-for-a-charge is not. Maybe that will answer some longstanding questions for you. Now ...

Marseille Survival Guide

... French are perfectly nice, I take that back, at least for Marseille. I am sure there are some perfectly lovely people hidden away here somewhere but we didn´t cross paths. Native Marseillans (or whatever you call them) are for the most part arrogant, rude, self-absorbed, unhelpful and obnoxious. Now how´s that for a ringing endorsement of a city´s population? Now I have to say the immigrant Arab population I came in contact with ...

Where France isn't French Anymore

My ticket here on Ryanair (another decent flight) said France, all the signs were in French last night, but I definitely woke up somewhere else other than France this morning. About 7am I heard various muezzins calling all the muslims to prayer on the loudspeakers at the mosques. I didn't think anything of it at first and rolled back over and went back to sleep. About ten minutes later I woke up again and the chanting was still going on and it hit me...I am in ...

Cassis and Bandol

... nice blonde woman pointed to a small garage that rented cars, but we should hurry as they close from noon to 4. We hustled up there and I had my first real battle with the language, or lack there of. While working through the language barrier, and against the clock, we discovered that neither of us had our drivers licenses. DOH. Erica made a B-line back to the hotel and I stayed to keep this guy open. We haggled over price ...

Au Pairing the Bandolians

... gone pearshaped quickly turned out to be ok. Pierre's wife, Dariane was great and we got along famously. The kids were sweet, Charlyne, 10, Maurine, 8 and Maxime, 4. They were energetic and sometimes a handful but generally great. The first week was them putting up with me not understanding a word of they were talking about, it was nothing like the french I had learnt in a class room. I was supposedly teaching them english but ...

... been crazy lately. I finish my photography training at Speos on May 20 and then we move to NYC on June 5. I can't believe it's so close...I feel like my time in Paris has been a wonderful experience. I am ready to go to NY and put everything I've learned here to good use. I am finishing my new website this week and will be having another photography exhibition on May 19. I have a couple of things lined up in NY upon arrival. I will be assisting a couple ...
