The attached pictures provide some indication of what it was like...and if any pictures can capture the feeling of "why we ride..." Then these certainly do...however you had to be there... I believe that it takes over two weeks (trip) to get into a space where reflection on the outdoors and the experience takes place. ... the talk. Hard as ****! Nicolette was a trooper and pushed through the first 13 miles with under 100 complaints. Macho woman pumped out the miles. The last four miles was a dreadful straight up climb and she had to have died at least 12 times in that period. We made it and reached a pretty kickass refuge with about 250 people in one room. ... a long 20km's to Chambery, which was all on a cycleway a good strong headwind some of the way. We stopped for lunch as were soaked and got cold so a change or extra clothes sorted that and we were off again. Chambery is a big city!!! its raining and we got lost - not too much fun, we found the tourism office so they could direct us out of the city on the cycle way which was about another 5km's. ...

... biking. Had a beer then went off to have a delcious crepe with cidre (dry). Later we met with some great friends we had met in Moorea earlier in the year when we did some Helpx there. We met at the Casino where we enjoyed some wonderful wine the Aubin selected. Well we laughed and laughed all night as Coralie's sister Cindy was there as well and she was a hoot! Aubin and Coralie bought me a Openel Knife and Jacqui some Chocolat. Anyway we were home at MIDNIGHT. Holy Cow!!! ...
