Up into the clear air of the Highlands & Dalat

A stop on the way was at the "Chicken village" the unofficial name of Lang Dinh An, where people from some of Vietnam's minority people live. Its claim to fame is, rather obviously, a chicken. Not just any old chicken, but a giant concrete one int...

Hallucinations on a Hillside..

... felt like I was imposing. They live in basic wooden huts, a whole family together, with no running water or electricity. They have their own dialect and use prayer instead of taking their children to hospital. Travelling is said to be a leveller, and all I could think as we continued with our trek was the 'more, bigger, better' mentality that seems so rife at home. Worlds apart..

It was a hard trek, but lots of fun, Ro was a great and ...

i stunned this town with my luminous green poncho that i wore 24/7 as it rained 24/7! as this town is up in the mountains it's obviously a little cooler and more likely to rain than the lovely sea side town of mui ne! we were both freezing and had very little patience when it came to trying to get around but we did our best to do something over the two days that we stayed here!
we decided to take the cable car that travels 2.7 km across forest and ...

Back onto 4 wheels.

... Did a walking tour around it and then got bikes and cycled out to the beach for a dip. Next morning we got a bus to Hue which is the old imperial capital of Vietnam and we treated ourselves to a nice place with a pool (Still only 15 euro including massive buffet breakfast for the two of us. I love Asia!!). Had a walk around the imperial palcae today and since it is national day in Vietnam the place was packed and boy o boy did we get the stares! A couple of ...

Beaches, Buckets, Winding Roads & Waterfalls

... back to our hotel. Unfortunately, Da Lat is a) comprised of several twisting roads that turn into one another and are utterly confusing and b) has significantly less English speakers. After walking several minutes down the wrong road a few times (I was letting Tom navigate if you really want to know....haha), we decided to eat dinner at a food stall. Upon questioning the waitress about the substance of a soya-chicken bowl of pho, she promptly said "two?" and walked off ...

... ride! Oh! Speaking of going for a ride...As I wait, I am entertained and disgusted at the same time as I watch one of the obnoxious family's teeny-bopper sons hop on to the baggage carousel, firmly plant his two feet on the conveyor belt and sail along as if on a surf board. Parents? Eh, they're too busy yelling at each other from one end of the building to the other...

I quickly snag my bag and hop in a taxi ...
