Not sure what all the fuss is about...Santa Margherita wins our vote.

Back at Scooby for lunch of bbq chicken wraps and biscotti for dessert, then onto the autopista to lovely Lucca.
... is either way this town is the only connector to Nice where we want to go or Milan to get to Paris. We visit the ticket counter 5 times in 2 hours each time finding out new information for our situation and having to leave to pondering our next plan of attack. It becomes comical when each time we attempt to make a decision and go back to the ticket counter there is atleast one new staff person. I will have to continue this later because a lady needs this computer.
... of the city and had the BEST focaccia bread ever! After we left the group we had lunch at a little place with outside cafe seats and it was terrific. Rachel had a spicy pizza, Il Diablo and I had a zucchini tart. Then we wandered back to the ship and now Rachel is at the gym and I am updating my blog! We are a lucky group here! Tonight is casual night thank goodness. More to come!

Heading towards Switzerland

Destination 404

km197'196

A wonderful winding route via a inland section have lead me from Pisa to the coastline around Genova. But since in that part of the environment it was very hard to find a spot for bushcamping I took the toll freeway to prevent to get stuck in the chaotic traffic of Genova and headed north into the highlands of the northern region of Genova. A beatiful spot at the top of a mountain has provided perfect views to sunset and sunrise, but a bloody cold night!

... trucks, yet the trucks are prohibited from traveling in the fast lane except for passing other trucks. For the most part the trucks are restricted from traveling faster than 80 kilos per hour on the highway (about 50 mph). This creates the threshold speed that the slow lane progresses at. Less trucks on the road can mean that this lane picks up a little. Entering the highway takes a bit of courage. The onramps are short and there is no time ...

... Upper and Lower cities showing me the place from 5pm into the night looking down at the amazing night view from the Upper City. I didn't take photos however because I would like to go back, so I sort of wanted to give myself incentive to HAVE to go back. Because right now I am really slack at organising to get anything done/go anywhere. I am in the processes of organising Oktoberfest, so let's hope I relaly get that underway!!

I went to Genova (Genoa) for the day ...

Aquarium in Genoa

We left Milan and headed down the coast to Genoa. Due to our missed train, half of the day was gone by the time we arrived. Luckily our bed for the night was very close to the train station so it didn't take long to find. It was run by a cute little Italian man who spoke very little english. We tried asking directions to the aquarium and that went fine, but then he went into detail about the towns history and completely lost us. We picked up that it was the ...

... it was so good. after that we continued hiking. the trails are so beautiful. you are literally on the side of a cliff hiking, overlooking the ocean. When youre done you have a sense of accomplishment at hiking the trail. Its seeing the real italy. Families farm on the side of the mountains, growing olives and grapes. its spectacular to think that people live this way. so different from my life back home of cars and stereos and modern conveniences. On sunday we went to the Pope's ...

Pretty coast again

Beck: Uh oh, small towns mean expensive internet. Since our last entry we've left Rome, spent 2 full days in Florence, 2 full hours in Pisa (honestly, I was expecting worse from what I'd heard from Andrew), and now we're in Riomaggiore, the first of 5 villages known as La Cinque Terre. It's pretty similar to the Amalfi coast.... gorgeous! Anyway, I'm sorry but I promise we'll do a good update sooner or later!
