Hong Kong is not a cheap place to kill time, but having an extra 3 days there did have one bonus, another meeting with Freddie, who we had last seen in Lesotho, and this time his girlfriend Gloria. Leidens Ontzet!
Today is Leidens Ontzet! - the celebration of the relief of leiden after
a spanish siegein 1574 ....yesterday it started...but tonight shall be
fireworks and fun (hopefully).. basically it is two nights and days where the whole of leiden becomes a big party.. it is full
of drinking..people., stalls,
carnival rides and games.. music, bands, parades.. oh and hutspot,
herring and white bread.

Wet, windy and achored for first time
... sun came out so we went outside to watch. We were settled and swinging in line with the others, so were happy to stay overnight.
Isi did some cleaning and John tried again to get the chart plotter to work outside. He tested the solar powered anchor light and that worked, so at least we were ok for the night time. No luck with the plotter – he thinks it must need an earth wire.
After dinner we watched a DVD. Checking ...
When is raiding the mini bar totally worth it?
... theology. I don't like his attitude towards English majors (Why do people always assume we chose it because we weren't "smart enough" for science?). But he does have some funny lines, and I do like his take on deconstructionism. Here's a line from when Madeleine, kind of an old-school English major, enters a class on semiotics: "Everyone in the room was so spectral-looking that Madeleine's natural healthiness seemed suspect, like a vote for Reagan."
