Hoffnungsthal, Germany: Finally time to relax!

... position to set up the laptop to watch a movie before bed in true Charla/Sean style! Unfortunately, one of the roommates arrived halfway into the movie and we had to stop watching. A nice ticket guy -- who talked at a very high pitch, and had a long ponytail, who could have very well been a very unnattractive woman -- collected our tickets and passports so that we wouldn't be woken up at the border crossing. We tucked ourselves into our narrow little ...

Hello!

So for two weekends in a row, my plans have not worked out exactly as I had hoped. That has only made me more determined to come back again and see Europe! It is unfortunate that I won't go over the border in my 2 months here. I will only set foot in another country on my way home when I stop over in Vienna and Singapore on ...

So that brings be to today. Thismorning we had a test. Everyone was nervous about it and had done a lot of study. Because I went to the ballet last night I couldn't really do that. I set my alarm to wake me up early. But after my early morning phone call, I needed to sleep longer. When ...

It has officially turned into Winter

... and unfortunately Cori has to leave Saturday at 3pm to get back to Munich to work that night. Also, I promised Scott that we would see Neuschwanstein together and I am really looking forward to experiencing it with him.

I have 2 free days at the end of the course in which I might be able to visit other cities or countries. I was thinking maybe Brussels or Amsterdam then, because they are so close... I also have the option of coming back to ...

Sunday at the Opera

... singers were superb. The overture and the orchestra were amazing!
After the Opera, I made a snack for tea and then went to bed.

Monday morning we had language, and then in the afternoon we had IKK where we looked at prejudices, stereotypes, cliches and jokes. Most of them were quite funny, however all written in German. If I get the chance I will try and translate a couple to post on my next blog.

After class I went into ...

In Düsseldorf there was an Opera shop so we went in there to buy our tickets for La Boheme. There were only 3 left. 3 of us wanted to go. It was perfect. And so cheap! They really look after students here and give them fantastic discounts!

German Christmas Markets Dec 05

... Meghan and I managed to catch mass, which was nice. Unfortunately our German is not quite up to par so we didn't understand much. We met up with our friends from Amsterdam who arrived just after us, and spent the rainy day wandering the markets. They were similar to those in Dusseldorf, although there were more of them. We didn't make too many purchases, as things were expensive, but we did pick up a few items that we'll take back to the US for the holidays.
