Keukenhoff - Tulip Central ( or. Crocus saved the day) It was a little early for the grand display, the buds show promise of a glorious garden but not yet. We did see swarths of crocuses, cheerful daffodils, heady hyacinths and the early blooming tulips. Our valiant crocuses were in full force. Always the first to bloom even while there is still snow. To us, crocuses ...

... it wouldn't work but it does. The Dutch way of doing things is definitely something I could get used to. I also realised how clever the design of the city is, adapting well to its environment. Amsterdam really is a cool place. In the evening we sought to tick off a few more 'must-do' activities. This began with a trip to the Van Gogh museum. Bar Night in Lisse

A travel blog entry by kgratz on May 17, 2014

After we got home from the farm, we showered, and had dinner. Mark's mom made us pancakes: ham and cheese and cream of mushroom. We had yogurt for dessert. Then sat around drinking. His dad drove us all to Lisse, the town nearby, and went to their ...

I also loved the special tulip vases made in Delft porcelain. Also had a stop at the animal nursery along the way and tasted a number of Dutch favourites including waffles and pjoftjores !

We spent the whole day wandering in the sunshine. ...

... a early 1900's vintage war plane while I was looking at a furniture exhibit, and he got busted for touching the plane's wing. His excuse? "There weren't any ropes around it!" I can't leave him alone for two minutes! :-P I also enjoyed an exhibit on Delft ceramics - the famous Dutch plates, tiles and vases decorated with the blue & white Chinese design popularized in the 1600's. We also went to the Van Gogh Museum. We say "van GO"; the Dutch say "van HHHOCK". No ...
