... In the end a compromise had been made. We would get a taxi for the same price as the bus.
Wadi Rum is a vast and echoing desert landscape, with shear sided mountains of sandstone and granite emerging from open valleys of heights over 1700 meters.
Our driver may not have talked much, but he was rather talented. He not only pointed to the sights and said things “Sand Dune.” He also cooked our dinner and looked after us. He was a ...
Wadi Rum, Jordan dinoshona... Falls, it's much nicer on the Canadian side, the Americans just see the ****** part when they look at us.

The day is spent enjoying the water and getting my tan in order. Merav and her friend made friends with the staff the day before and we got free sports activities like a jet ski ride, snorkeling and even a short windsurfing lesson. It's one of the perks of hanging out with hot chicks.
My favorite part of the day was going snorkeling. At first, when I headed out to the reef ...
Wadi Rum, Jordan brisko... is surprisingly nice and they don't use milk so it was a new experience for me.

Got dark and slightly chilly so we headed into the communal tent and listened to two Bedouin guys playing music and singing. Got a bit boring after a while but it was cool for 10 minutes. Dinner took aaaages. Absolutely starving. Bit disappointed. Some chicken, rice, vegetable stew, bread and onions & potatoes. It was ok but one of the blandest meals I've had in a long ...
Wadi Rum, Jordan gazhams... U.S. aid ever since.
Sitting on narrow seats in the truck's open back, a ripped piece of fabric covering our heads, offering slim protection from the beating sun, we ride through sand for two hours, driven by Bedouins. Modern Bedouins maintain camels for show and photographs, particularly at all of the scenic vistas, but more likely travel in Toyotas these days. True, we did encounter a mother camel in the wild feeding three babies, and we witnessed a ...
Wadi Rum, Jordan poko6648... the overwhelming heat, exhaustion caught up with both of us and we napped for a couple of hours. Upon waking, we made our way back to the main tent. It was jeep time! There were 6 or 7 Bedouin style jeeps (by this I mean old, rusty Toyota trucks with seats affixed to the bed of the truck to seat 3 people on either side). These vehicles were to take us on a "tour" of the desert. Riding through the desert in the back of a truck and a pretty good speed was amazing. I particularly ...
Aqaba, Jordan kochpm2... ve even done it, including it seems my choice in underwear! Thankfully I had got a couple of sexy numbers from the market on Nachlat Binyamin before I came. If it is true that small minded people talk about other people then this kibbutz does not need much space for minds. What's more it goes beyond knowing each others business - much of it is *****ing pure and simple. Whilst gossip is inevitable in any small community, I ...
Eilat, Israel gouldy... that are permanent residents of the area, which is in a major bird migration flyway (but not this time of year). We learn that flamingos get their pink color from what they eat and that salmon is artificially colored. Who knew? Shor's sharp eyes pick up two antelopes and sorry to say, I didn't have the telephoto lens on the camera so I didn't have a chance of getting a worthwhile photo. In any case, they were so well camouflaged and moving so ...
Eilat, Israel journeyerMy alarm has now been changed to Bob Marley's 'Three Little Birds' which opens with the line, "Don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright!" This minor adjustment feels like the best thing I've ever done when the alarm sounds a short 45 minutes after my head hit the pillow. For some reason I take this advice to heart and am as energetic as ever throughout ...
Eilat, Israel madman96... was bigger. Apparently he and his friend had been wandering around in the Sinai desert guideless for the last few days. Every now and then they would come across Bedouin who asked them if they wanted a camel and they would reply they were camels. On the way to Nuweiba, the bus stopped at several checkpoints, Mum and I and a couple of Americans we were sitting near had no problems but at one point a guard walked off with the passports of the two Israeli guys. The foreigners on the bus all ...
