At first, they both looked at us like we were crazy and weren't sure they wanted to do it. But it didn't take long for both of them to nudge down on the accelerator and move forward slowly. There was so much magma under the island that when the eruption was finished and the magma chambers were emptied, the island collapsed in on the empty space thereby creating the water filled caldera and the cliffs. The landscape is pretty rugged. The violence of the eruption is apparent and it is hot and dry. When I say hot I mean hot. Santorini and one other nearby island are technically the only ...

... some more Gatsby. During the night it was super windy and I laid in bed listening to the wind howl whilst praying that it didn't knock over any trees nearby. At about 4am I was woken by a drunk group of guys who thought it would be a smart idea to ride their 4 wheelers. It's amazing that there aren't more injuries from drunken tourists! The next morning I got up early, showered, checked out then had an amazing egg and bacon roll from the cafeteria. I think whilst I was on Ios ...
