    ... We both ordered the special mixed kebab and it was so nice, I was annoyed when I ended up full as it was so nice. After the flight and stomachs full, the next thing was sleep! Monday So I'd managed one flight and now I had to face waking up to realisation that I had to go up the Burj Khalifa! Breakfast was included in the hotel so Matty made the most of it :), never expected to see mushroom soup, chilli or olives served for breakfast! We decided to get the metro again ...

    ... at the GOLD SOUKS. Here we were beckoned into their shops to spend our money. Some windows were laced with amazing pieces of jewellery. But no money spent at this time. With our gold shining eyes we travelled back to our hotel to get a bite to eat and hit the sack for an early night ( we thought). Dubai time was about 8.30pm but our body clocks were in the Perth time of 12.30am. Now that we an impressing day.

    ... at ground level but the Atlantis Hotel at the top of the tree is a sensation. Where we are staying the Marina and beachfront precinct is like St. Kilda combined with the Docklands and Southgate on steroids! Everything is bigger and grander that anything I've seen. It is just wall to wall skyscrapers for 20 km. Nothing is old down this end! Sorry to be so long winded. Lots of excitement, lots of words! Venice ...

    Our adventure finally begins! Arrived safely in Dubai after a very long 14 hour flight. Emma and I only had about an hours sleep, Toby had around 4, so needless to say a little tired today. Amazing airport, had to catch a train from the gate to the baggage claim/passport control! James was waiting for us thankfully, after his flight from Perth had arrived a little earlier.
