I traveled to Ningbo on Monday evening after the English Subject Panel had finished.

I met Will at breakfast in the Citic Hotel on Tuesday morning and we went out to Ningbo Foreign Language School, which is one of my centres. The school is built in an amazing location in the south-east of Ningbo, surrounded by mountains and with a beautiful lake on site.

The staff here are all lovely. I had only been to this centre once before with Liz and Mary ...

Only having a few days left in Cixi before we head off to Shanghai for a month, we have decided to give up our flat and relocate to the big city for a few weeks. On the day that I was flying out of Yinchuan, the school called to say that I needed to bring in my passport, in order to have the working visa cancelled and to be put on a 10 day visa ( an obvious delay attempt as the PSB would be closed for the Chinese New Year). When I refused to come in, as my taxi was waiting for me (they were aware of my travel plans for almost 2 weeks), I ...

... people say. My host family brought me in front of a Buddhist statue where many people were on their knees praying. They told me that this particular statue was special for women who wanted to get pregnant. I was about ready to run away until they told me that the statue is also meant to hear all of your prayers and that you could ask it anything. Hoping that the statue understood English, I knelt down and began bowing with the incense. We then walked to an array ...

... a free hour each night. This was completely unfair but I let it happen. After speaking to Alex and her host mother, they convinced me that this was not fair to me and that I need to stand up for myself. When I returned home I walked up to the schedule board and said I NEED THIS DAY OFF. My host mom was not happy but I told the daughter that it was illegal to make me work that much without a day off and she finally agreed. It took all of the Brooklyn in me to not let her ...
