... We found lots of conch, sea biscuits and star fish and other delights. Sea biscuits are a "fat" sand dollar - looks like a biscuit where a sand dollar has impressed itself to the top. We swam around and enjoyed the water - a baby shark swam in front of us through the flats as we were heading back to the boat. I idly wondered, as I picked up speed, where it's mother was! Spent a restful and beautiful night at NoName Cay. Life is grand.
MAN O WAR, Bahamas takinbetz... boat builders still enduring today. Although there are no descendants of Loyalists in the Exumas today, they can be found in the Abacos. Almost all the residents of MOW Cay can trace their roots back to Nellie Archer and Ben Albury. Nellie Archer visited MOW Cay to farm a plot of land her family owned and on hot days they would go to the beach ...
MARSH HARBOR, Bahamas takinbetz... at the end (or beginning) of the dock is a very popular restaurant in MH. After a good night's sleep, we did a load of laundry and Dave checked his emails.... we're ready to leave the marina. For one thing - it was HOT. This is the hottest I've been since arriving in the Bahamas. The winds are very light (after so much wind it seems weird) and in a marina you don't get the benefit of pointing into the ...
MARSH HARBOR, Bahamas takinbetz... place over by Cambridge Cay and then I guess it landed back in Warderick McTaggert donated it to the Land Trust and it's been used for a lot of different things. McTaggert built a house, on land, exactly like "The Owl" and it's called "The Pussycat". McTaggerts are big developers in Canada and very rich and a little eccentric and they come down here and live in The Pussycat as their vacation home. The Zoom Dave is working on the ...
WADERICK WELLS CAY, Bahamas takinbetz... Wind is still up there 18-20 kts so we'll probably stay another day. Moondance has asked us to proceed south with them to Farmer's Cay, Lee Stocking Cay and then to Georgetown. We are thinking of doing that. Farmer's Cay is uninhabited and Lee Stocking is a marine research center. We won't be in Georgetown long as now the month of April is passing and we still need to get north again. Although the Exumas have definitely got our ...
GREAT GUANA CAY, Bahamas takinbetz... him, picking up our errant oar on the way. The dinghy gets to Dave, finally, and pushes him back over to Spindrift which is a good ways to go. So.....Capn Dave gets rescued in Norman Cay's Pond by a very good looking, well built, bikini clad French woman. You gotta be impressed by his luck! So as I write this, it's 5:00. I'd love to say we're settled in but you never know what's going to happen next! Life is good.
n, Bahamas takinbetz... behind at the end of our trip. The Marina restaurant is quite formal and very British. Remember, the Bahamas were all part of Britain until they earned their indepence in 1973. This restaurant is a carry-over of the era. The food is fine and Sheena, our server, scrounged around for some key lime pie for Tom. The temperature is heating up. Day 5. Back through Whale Cay to get to Treasure Cay. We're given permission to go, with word that it should be a pretty easy passage ...

ÉϺ£°ìÀí, Manitoba, Bahamas abibo... is being crowded out by the looming Atlantis and the sounds of Nassau Harbor, so when camping out at night there was a lot of boom, boom, boom of the bass from the party boats. (next time I'll bring earplugs) But in another way, all the commotion in the harbor was a neat reminder why I was there..... all in all a fantastic escape from the everyday world, and still a beautiful location. And new friends I hope to see again....
Paradise Island, Bahamas charmedlife... Bahamians dress in their Sunday best and typically go to mass and spend time with family on Sundays. The ferry ride included a humorous tour guide who assured us that the black in the Bahamian flag represented the color of his skin and warned us not to eat too much conch because it is a tried and true aphrodisiac. We walked around the resort, which looks and feels exactly like being in a ritzy themed resort/casino in Las Vegas, trying to figure out ...
