Launhardstrasse 2 - 4 Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany, 60314, 69-949900
We managed to arrive in Frankfurt safe and sound. Customs was basically a walk-through even before we got our luggage. Then all we had to do was walk out the door entitled "Nothing to Declare" which wasn't even attended. I'm not sure but we may be in the country illegally. Got our rental car and managed to get to the hotel without issue. We are going to take it easy the rest of the day, do a bit of a walk-about and info-gathering.
We walked around our immediate hotel area, which seems...
After a very nice breakfast in the hotel, we drove to Bert and Biggy's factory in Metelen, where they make fireplace inserts. We were able to have a tour and also got to meet both their sons and one daughter-in-law, who also work there. It was a very appealing tour, just like watching that program "How It’s Made"; it is so interesting to see the process involved. We felt badly that we were taking Biggy and Roman away from their jobs for so long.
Pete’s last stint of driving...

Again it seems to be an escape from the inevitable. But somehow I actually think it's way more than that.

Why do I think that? I'm sure you are wondering what special thing happened at the end of my last entry in the first world trip ...
Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany silberregenIt was sooooo cold in Frankfurt, we didn't want to spend much time here since we had no winter clothing. WE got in late, went to our hotel, then back to the airport to get our flight to Bangkok moved up. We though it would be at 8 that night, but they managed to get us on the next flight out, which was pretty much within the hour. Woohooo! I also kept speaking Italian in Germany... so confused with all the languages.
Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany sofenjon... a Haut Medoc from France? {what the heck is a Haut Medoc?}I have no idea what I selected or how much it cost in USD. I was told to stick to about $30/bottle but who can translate at 8 am after an 11 hour flight? I think it was about 57 Euro's total, so either way, I am 50% off budget - still not sure if I went too cheap or too expensive. Hopefully my colleague, Wally, the one who requested the purchase will be happy either way.

In ...

We're almost there! Bis Spater!!

Beifall! Rick & Elsie!

Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany ricknelsie... s and Bjorn laughed out loud when I asked if it's true that German's drink their beer warm. "Never." Immediately we had girls come up to us to chat. We met Anna, who is German but speaks fluent english and even studied for awhile near Boston. We also met Marta, who is half Brazilian and is studying to be a teacher. They were both so nice! Anna said "See everyone wants to talk to you because we love speaking English and talking to Americans!" We felt very ...
