      ICE is nice!

      The German train system is on strike until Monday. That is all BUT the ICE (intercity express) trains. So we did catch our 6:45 AM train from Brussels to Frankfurt. It was a little eerie to see all the trains parked. There were a few running but in most of the stations, like Koln and Bonn, we were the only train.

      On the way to pick up the rental car we had this great Iranian cab ...

      ... all around the area. David and I took many pictures. In some areas they had photographs of the destruction that took place in WWII. The photos showed the before and after reconstruction. Visited two Catholic churches that had been reconstructed as they once were. The architecture shows the influence of Dutch.
      Our time is up and we must return to the airport.
      Because I have special needs we get to board ...

      ... realised they spoke German... Turns out my jokes aren't so funny in German. With this knowledge fulfilling my quest to understand the lack of response to my attempts to break the awkwardness (I was gonna sit next to him for the next 10 hours...) I was then shattered when he spoke English too... Turns out my jokes aren't funny in English or German...
      And to top off that, the Lufthansa pillows are pathetic, I could find more feathers ...

      ... get to our connecting flight. It was in another terminal at Changi , so a cart was organised to drive us as fast as possible to the sky train. A quick ride lead to a 10min run to the gate. Got there with 2 mins to spare. Another half empty plane meant great exit row seats, and no one around us, including screaming mongrel kids. So had ...
