      ... but was in Bangalore for the week for work. It was great to meet her and hear all about her life in India. We loved talking about all of our travel experiences and the differences between our cultures.

      We ended our exciting day taking a tuk tuk back to the hotel! This is a little three wheeled buggie that all of the locals use to get around. Thankfully Akansha was with us to negotiate a price so the driver could not rip us off! ...

      ... than two ball rooms, most were smaller rooms. The sales manager informed us that unlike Dubai, where conventions took place and such spaces were needed, hotels in Bangalore didn't need such large rooms and the largest demand of meeting spaces were for smaller meeting rooms. We ate at one of the restaurants in the hotel with the manager and sales team, which was delicious. After this meeting, we went across town to the Bangalore satellite office ...

      ... to do. When we’re in control, winding up the Western Gahts or cruising through the world’s second largest Mangrove forest, it feels like an accomplishment. We reached it by ourselves, and all our enjoyment is owed only to our own determination. It’s nice to get that sense of getting somewhere rather than being taken somewhere, and it’s exactly the mentality I take away from Bangalore. I don’t need to be led, only pointed in the right direction.

      ... take me to the hostel and then back to the station. Given the traffic deadlock and my tightness on time, I ended up hopping out of the rickshaw and running in the sewage water (up to my knees) to get to the hostel as quickly as possible. The thought of a crazy white girl running in the sewage in the middle of the streets passing by all of the rickshaws, cars, bikes, etc. still makes me laugh; and I am sure it gave the locals more than enough ...
