... like definite tan lines from my tank top.
We got back to AE at around 2 15 where the 8 of us had lunch (the debrief had 3 different groups today and ours was through lunch so we had our own when we got back) and then parted ways. I ended up going around campus and taking a video of everything so I can bring it back and show everyone what it looks like. And as I was finishing of course it begins to thunder. Well I still had to run today so ...
... last run up a worship song came on so I went to change it but my ipod wouldn't change, i have an itouch and it was like switching from vertical to horizontal and so I was like ok I'll leave it. And the song that played was so relative to how my walk with Christ has been lately. So then I went for my last run up the hill and felt like God was saying to go to the prayer chapel up there, so I went there and just had an awesome experience with God. The songs that played ...
Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa nicolejohnson... then one person from the group there would accompany her to each station from there on. At the last station Musa and Taylor were there and we all left Nomusa and ran to the waterfall to get into position and then Musa (Philip's son) walked Nomusa to the waterfall where all of us lined the path down to the bottom while holding lit candles and Baba was at the bottom waiting for her. And there was a table and everything set up for them to dine down there ...
Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa nicolejohnsonToday was the last day of service sites... I can't even believe I'm saying that! This last month flew by! The morning began with chaos because baba Philip fell ill :( So Reg, Leslie, and Reagen had to do some quick thinking to sort out the day. Not only is it hard enough to get us all to our service sites on a regular day, but through in that Jon Wallace (the president of APU) and his wife, Matt Browning and some of the board members from APU are ...
Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa nicolejohnson... wants you to marry her son or maybe it was grandson i don't remember but then I started laughing. Taylor was near buy and chimes in oh it's very high! 3 dogs ! (pretty much worth less) and then the gogo says she will give him 5 dogs and a rooster. It was pretty funny and we all laughed as we walked away and I questioned why I was only worth 3 stinkin dogs lol.
Tomorrow we are going to have to say goodbye to our gogo gropu and WITL :( sad day
... and it didn't matter that we spoke 2 different languages we all had so much fun! And were laughing hysterically. I cried I was laughing so hard.
Baba Philip got us promptly at 3:00 and we ended our time with the gogo's. Then we had our gym run and mall run and at the gym I had a funny thing happen to me. I was doing squats and putting the 45 lb plates on the bar and a guy was like here let me help you with that. Then I went to put on 22lb ...
So today was day one of service sites! We got to Walk in the Light and met with Bruce, Phindile, and one other guy who's name escapes me at the moment and got to know them since we will be working with them for the next 4 weeks. After some prayer and a brief overview we said good bye to Baba Philip... which reminds me I need to back up a little bit. This morning Philip dropped of the RivLife group then took our group to walk in the light but while we were waiting for our teacher Francis ...
Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa nicolejohnsonToday began with some beautiful sunshine and a guest chapel speaker. We had Sean Wisedale, the first South African to climb the highest mountain on each continent including Antarctica and Mt. Everest, speak to us. He shared with us about his climb up Mt. Everest and all the trials and triumphs of it. He filmed his journey and actually all of the 7 mountains on each continent ...
Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa nicolejohnson... never been so happy to see a tortilla with ground beef, rice, beans, salsa, tomatoes, and quacamole! We cooked for the staff that normally cooks for us too. I'm not sure what they thought of it but it was incredibly delicious to have food from home! And then later we got to make smores!! what a night! oh and we watched braveheart in the South Africa campus cougar's den... yeah what a good night :)
