... the normal bus trip should take from Guilin to Yangshuo.
I think that, looking back on it, I don't regret this trip. If nothing else it taught me not to accept boat trips from strangers in the street, something I should probably have known anyway, but thanks to the 5 hours of back-destroying, ever-reducing in size bus travel, I now am totally and thoroughly aware of. Plus, as you can see in the photos, the curve of the Li River is really very pleasant.

After a cold and short night for Miriam and Des (Clíona and Cian slept fine) we woke up to have breakfast on the top level of our hotel. Beautiful views and a yummy breakfast! With scrambled eggs, bacon and toast.

... a Spanish tapas place for an aperitif before heading to The Alley for dinner. We learned about this place on Trip Advisor. The owner is from Austria and has been in Yangshuo for about 10 years. We had a god chat with him and enjoyed a nice dinner. Town had really come alive in the later evening and walking about gave us a real chance to take it in. Universally it seems everyone just wants a good life and to have some fun. We sure are joining in. ...

... reasons to visit including the stunning Jiuzhaigou national park (check out photos of its lakes on google, stunning blues caused by magnesium and other elements) and the Panda breeding centre, both of which I've already mentioned. In addition to these two attractions Chengdu is conveniently near to Leshan, a city that boasts the worlds largest Buddha aptly named the giant Buddha. The giant Buddha is over seventy metres tall and is ...
