... and a wallaby was feeding on the lawn. A while later a large hare hopped across the garden, feeding as he went. The garden sloped down into a valley with the large 'Magic Lake', so called because when it hasn't rained for a while the lake drains and disappears. As soon as it rains again the lake appears overnight, as if by magic! It was all an amazing sight. In the late afternoon it started to shower and then rain quite heavily, the lorikeets and kookaburra ...
Kooralbyn, Queensland, Australia harryandnorahToday was set asided as a very laid back, not doing much day. When I woke up I had breakfast, put my bathers on and headed down to the swimming pool. The weather was fantastic and I used some time to concentrate on my tan and also swimming. When I was joined by Shawna, we practiced so stunts in the pool which we have so much fun doing. We swam around for about 2 hours before we decided to head ...
Surfers Paradise, Australia bethfisherAfter sailing with the Silkie from Scarborough to Southport, we pulled into the Gulf Coast Marina, a huge facility, on the 20th. It was obviously a busy marina that catered to very large boats, with every kind of boat repair facility imaginable, but not too exciting of a social marina- there were very few people living onboard and the town was not centrally located. So I offer this entry and pictures as a recap of my time aboard. As I have mentioned I had ...
Coomera, Australia g_shook... enough room for the entire Crowther clan to drop by at the same time).Ted and Hong also do lots of travel by caravan so are well seasoned travellers and assisted us in setting up the camper just before the big change hit (and of course more rain). We spent a great afternoon then catching up with stories of times past in Suzanne's childhood and of course many anecdotes and tips about what to do/stay in our trip north. Raymond their ...
Browns Plains, Australia georgeescape... apparent undercurrent of laidback attitude in Brisbane, which I can only attribute to the massive amounts of sun that the city gets, and the only thing that the Australians here complain about is the rain. Not, as in England, that there is too much, but rather that it passes them by, leaving water restrictions in place. When it does rain, people go and dance in the streets, and it is easy to tell then, who like me, is a holidaying Pom, and who is a ...
Brisbane, Australia sahs... bridge and into Fortitude Valley where our hostel is located. First look at the place and it does not bode well as it looks a little grotty as we drive past, several times in the end as we're stuck in the one-way system and can't get parked. Eventually we park up in an overpriced multi-storey and run over to the hostel with our gear. The hostel turns out to be pretty grotty inside too, it's also full of English backpackers in full sporting regalia interspersed with the ...
Brisbane, Australia richard_x_brown... We walked down to the river and across the Victoria Bridge to South Bank, where we made use of Queensland's State Library and its free internet access. Dan had emailed us in the interim. He had a retreat at work that would keep him busy until late tonight and during the day tomorrow, but we were welcome to come and stay if that suited us. We got directions and went back to the station to grab our stuff, took another short train trip and walk, and ...
