Day 1- First Day In Korea

... Even though my uncle has a dinning table they still eat sitting on the floor with a fold out table that is about a foot off the ground. I will have to get used to sitting down Indian style. There are no forks, only chop sticks and spoons. For dinner there was multiple types of lettuce, peppers, fresh raw fish and of course rice. Growing up, this was very typical for me except that we usually only had cooked meat.

Let the Humidity Rise

Its been awhile since we wrote and we somehow misplaced our cords for the pictures so as of now pictures aren't an option. So in the last couple days we've been to a bridge that was high in the mountains. It was a very long set of stairs and the bridge was a little shakey. Daniel and I was a little freaked out my heights but Preston was fine and started to jump on the bridge to shake it so that wasn ...

... is a fairly efficient bus system all throughout South Korea, and is also very cheap to use. Once you figure out the routes, it's a decent, albeit crowded way to travel around the city and outlaying areas. Of course you can always walk, bike, or get a motorcycle. There aren't as many bikes--motored or not-- in Korea as in Europe, but they are around, and used quite often. Watch out if you are walking on the sidewalks, it tends to only be a suggestion ...

Back to School

Well, summer has officially ended, and Fall is in the air. In August, I was blessed with two, count 'em TWO visitors--Pauliina and Romie. I had a lot of fun, showing them in and around Busan, introducing them to local cuisine, and demonstrating what little Hongul I've learned so far... I think both friends enjoyed themselves, and the Korean monsoon season. No joke though, the DAY Romie left, also the day school began again, the weather ...

Westward Ho!

... I head out to a local bar with some of the guys to grab some yakitori and beer. Another early start and off to Jiyogaoka to meet up with Noriko. We hop on a train bound for Japan's second city of Yokohama. Lunch and a wander proceed the day's main aim, a baseball game at Yokohama Stadium between the home Baystars and the Dragons. A very close game won by the home side, thanks mainly to back to back home runs in the first inning. Lots of happy ...

Spring In South Korea

... friendly urban recreation setting. What amazed me was that theres big screen TVs in the park for visitors information. How would that happen in Malaysia? The Forum went on smoothly in the afternoon with presentations from the remaining cities mostly from Philipphines and Sri Langka. The Forum adjourned to Hyundai Club House for a closing cum farewell dinner. The Club was located in a nice environment. The dinner was in buffet setting with ...

I have to go shopping tonight to find things for my apartment...you know, dishes and things. No St. Patty's for me!! :( Booooo!! I heard there's a few places around here celebratig ...

Pusan

... on the way home. Pusan, Korea.....hummm....what nice to say? The port wanders all over...it is HUGE....like 10-20 x the size of Seattle. I couldn't figure out if the many extensions of the port are man made or it is the natural topography. I guess it is the main and only port for Korea. Ships were lined up as far as you could see like airplanes in landing formation. It was fascinating just to ...

Back to Busan

... been a flip flop girl, but I found a cute pair of black Nike Air flip flops (in America, before leaving) that were super comfortable. I was devastated, but I sucked it up and just wore my green ones for dinner that night. We walked to our favorite outdoor market, because Phil wanted to try one of the outdoor seafood stands. Along with a couple of crazy drunks (who I'm sure only sat down to stare at us), we enjoyed a fabulous fish dinner. PFS ...
