... who we emailed and invited out for coffee. Then theres Serena, a local at the DUFE (a local university pronounced Doofey) who is part of the International Club (A club for locals to get to know foreigners) who wonders around the uni looking for white people. The chance encounter with Serena was followed by a txt to Anna the next morning at 7am saying "Oh so sad. I lost my wallet. Sad sad sad." which was ignored, and a followed an hour later saying "Oh I found ...
Dalian, Liaoning Province, China petersbloglah... doesn't fit you and you look even better! Remember, if it doesnt look like its been sitting in the sun for 20 years, YOU CANT WEAR IT!
If you don't have the perm, (mostly if your a guy), then you have outrageous hair!! Especially popular is shaving the sides, and waxing your hair up and over it, kinda like a greasy bowl cut that sticks out over the shaved sides like ...
... meal cost 32 yuan. When I compare it to American prices, it is less than $5 so I should be fine with that. But to compare it to China meal prices it is quite expensive.
As a bonus I am adding some KFC pictures. This is taken in Dalian and my western friends call it the KFC church. Because ... it looks like a Church. None of the others look like this one. So, I wanted to share it with you. Enjoy...
... hour. When I arrived at Dalian, I called the hotel (the only reason I even bothered was because Dalian is very busy in summer and the hotels there are expensive). A much nicer woman than last time said they were full and my booking seemed to have been cancelled at 18:00pm. In some ways relieved, I walked over to the airport information desk and booked a hotel room. It was cheaper than the one I’d booked online and the information desk worker even walked me over ...

One of the roles was to assist with the Opening Ceremony... which totally fit the bill. Small setup and only scheduled to last ten minutes. Well, I was kind of right.
The students who were responsible for this part were sweet, but extremely indecisive, which meant that we kept having meeting, after ...
It is Heidi first full day of teaching, and we are launching our Stock Market Game. The premise is simple, randomly handout six cards to every student that is either $100 or a stock (A,B,C,D) explain to them the goal of the game is to amass the most wealth that they can. It works best with two people, because one person can be in charge of randomly changing the price of stocks (all going up) and the other can be the bank, loaning out $1000 for every $100 of insurance ...
Wanli, Liaoning Province, China aszliross... hurting I was smiling/laughing so hard. It turned out to be a wonderful day, and after a long time, we packed up and went home. The elderly lady said it was a pity that she didn't know English because she would love to converse with us. I felt bad because I'm the one who came to their country not knowing the language. The bus ride home wasn't eventful. It's getting kind of old people constantly staring at me- their three favorite body parts are my face (duh ...
Dalian, Liaoning, China asmota... several of the green/orange uniformed public employees make brooms for the street sweepers out of reeds that are delivered whenever the pile gets low. They also make the waste basket sweepers from recycled nylon cloth, reeds and wire. They use the sidewalk for their workshop, and it's shared with the guy who repairs the bike pickups for the maintenance department. Right next door to a noodle shop. The street sweepers do a great job. Dalian public ...
