... The walls were filled with photos from the 1950s and 60s and the waitors were dressed in Javanese designs. We took a table upstairs which had a view of the square. We had a look at the menu and ordered some Indonesian food. I was so happy to finally get some traditional food! ... square appears way less ****** than everywhere else, and to the South (which seems to be business district) it even looks quite nice. Glass building and cleans streets and the like. We don't have time for any of that though and wander on. We hit Jakarta National Museum at 1 min to one, and its closed. However, it's only closed on Friday's from half 11 to 1 (probably related to the prayer thing) so we wait the 60 seconds, check our bag in, collect our free booklet, pay ...

... would mind having our starters after our main courses?) Whilst in Asia Iv tried to adapt to this way of living also, which is fine when I'm in a restaurant waiting years for my food, or having my starter after my main, or even when my bus arrives an hour or two after its supposed to - but when it means Iv sat on a bus full of smelly people for 35 hours instead of 24 hours, then it starts to get to me a bit. We finally made it to Bali at 5pm on 10th August!

... found another little cafe, which had a non-smoking section in the back. This has been a bit of a disappointment for us. It is not illegal to smoke in Indonesia (or Malaysia) so many people will sit and smoke in restaurants; making it very unpleasant when trying to eat a meal.
