... freshly grilled fish and octopus and the lovely family who ran the place, who had moved here from Athens a few years ago. The big, incredibly overweight father who manned the outside grill kept motioning with his hands and saying easy, easy, and something of the equivalent of go slow, relax in Greek. It certainly was a relaxing spot, and you can see after years of living in Athens why they must love this slow paced little spot, literally in the middle of nowhere.

We then walked to the Church of the Virgin Mary. This is the main church of Chania. It is quite small in side but very pretty. After our visit to the church, Dennis and I walked back to the ship. We have walked at least 2 miles every day and sometimes as many as four.

were on the right track after all, and not long afterwards, we came out near
the waterfront, that we walked along to reach the fort initially. The bus back
to Chania was very full, but we managed to get on, and had an uneventful trip
back, and a quiet evening.

We got up at 4:30 to catch the bus from the nearby village of Kolimbari at 5:15. We had prepared a packed lunch the night before, so we had a quick breakfast and arrived at the bus stop in good time. While we were waiting we met a German couple from Hamburg who were also doing the walk and exchanged pleasantries in German (except Dave).
