16 Nov - "Back to Nature"
2 nights of urban living in Lagos and we decided it was time to head for the hills, which meant relocating to Luz on a rather more rural campsite in terms of its locale. Luz is a beautiful beach town with a beach circa one mile in length, a good deal of which has a backdrop of multi coloured rock face. Its a lot smaller than Lagos and out of season, certainly uncrowded. Having pitched our tent, we decided a lazy day ...
... we can, particularly of Praia de Bordeira. About 50km south of Odeceixe and we arrive in Lagos, one of the major Algarve tourist destinations. We arre initially overwhelmed by the size of the place (we really have been living in areas with low populationo density) and by the number of Brits abroad, but soon gain our bearings, checking out the surf (looks good!) and decide its time for us to have a night on the town, including a meal out (our ...
Lagos, Algarve, Portugal lymandannabelleAnother typical Porto Covo morning: bright, blue and upon inspection, very large swell; too large for us. Decision time - do we stay or move on? It was easy and unanimous, time to break camp and hit the road once again heading south. We looked at a couple of likely surf / camp destinations, until opting for Odeceixe, a town which straddles both the Alentejo and the Algarve ...

... there, he was hilarious and exactly like a euro version of an American beach bum.
We also went to check out the lagoon, I got out for a couple tacks, the wind was super light and I crashed my kite and it deflated... fun. I had to walk my kite back through shallow water ...
... about the Qantas, Jetstar or Virgin Blue self check in system. Unlike BA, if you were booked to fly together then generally when you go to check yourself in all call up your booking, the person that your are travelling with also appears. But at BA, the idea seems to be if you don't go and start checking in 24 hours before your departure, then they will allocate you seats at random, so not taking into account that you are travelling with your significant other and may ...
Faro, Algarve, Portugal pat_n_mel... chatting the night away. He tells me history about the Knights Templar and one of the fun things is that all cities that start with "To" were founded by them.. such as Toledo. Interesting. He also tells me that he used to own this restaurant Vilaadentro and he gave it to his sister. He decorated the place himself with Portugeuse blue tiles. It appears that both of us find the Portuguese blue tile beautiful. If I had more time, I would love to visit it ...

Faro, Portugal hastie... water where we met Carlos the First, the waiter who *loved* us. He made us delicious kebabs. The next day we were determined to explore Faro and possibly send people postcards about it. On the street we ran into Carlos the Second ... who later became known as Carlos ... the gigolo! He ...
