It was midnight by the time we got to bed. Our room is compact, immaculately clean and the best soundproofed room ever. Took a bit of time to work out how to use the toilet (they call it a washlet). There is seat warming buttons, bidet or "shower" options, but the flushing had us confused. It is an odd lever on the wall. And we soon found out that no two were the ...

Today we continued on up the coast arriving at our friend Chris’ place at Byron Bay. What a welcome oasis for the next few days. We were able to rest up in her beautiful home which we visited 5 years ago when we picked up our camper van from Coorindi Beach. There is a lovely swimming pool which doubles as a pond for the wild ducks and ...

I then walked along the riverfront but the wind had not abated so I went back to the hotel. On the way back there is a larger than ...

Day 128 Nobody in the house was in a rush to get up this morning. Kori had a long lie in and Ben read for a couple of hours. After breakfast, Rob drove Jane and us to Broadbeach where competitors in the Australian Beach Volleyball Grand Slam were just beginning their matches. The tournament spans the three-day Australia Day weekend. As we arrived, the sixteen year old son of a friend of Jane was already on court. He and his partner (also ...

... prettty hungover met and went for dinner at a really good burger joint. Before leaving the hostel I genuinely thought I would spew up anything I'd ate and thought I'd have to sit there with a glass of water (and still risk that coming up). I even went to the extent of performing a test which meant eating a slice of dry bread and seeing if it stayed down. It didn't. However I still ordered a burger when we got to the restaurant and thank god, It was actually the cure of me. It ...
