Where did all the plankton go?

A travel blog entry by laurenw_is on May 09, 2014

... definitely our last night that we would try to see the famed phosphorescent plankton everyone had told us about. Having seen it on Koh Rong in Cambodia we wanted to know if it looked any different in Gokarna. Unfortunately we'll never know, we didn't see any. I waded out and tried in vein to kick the water around me but nothing happened. Disappointed, we wandered back in, showered, and went for ...

... ahead of us we trekked up the rocky hill and down to the beach. This was another half an hour and by the time to got to the bottom we were both soaked in sweat. You could literally wring it out of my shirt.

Gokarna is a small beach town just South of ...

... in when the sun got too hot, I needed something to eat or drink or the sun set.

Leaving was a bit of a hassle. My bike, as much as I loved it through the days, had some form of short wire that no one could locate that meant in the morning, every morning, my battery was flat. Once I managed to get it going the rectifier would charge up the battery as an alternator in a car would, but starting it was often a pain, I'd charged the ...

    Unwanted attention!

... I plonked my backpack between us...much better! Then I felt something on my foot only to see his chubby little foot trying to play footsie with me! I gave him my strongest, most appalled glance and said loud enough for others to hear to "stop touching my foot like that". Disgusting most unpleasant journey but no harm done! Gross, fat little Indian ...
