... like anything else. The highway signs have been always in Basque and sometimes but not always in Spanish. It's been like being in two different countries while still being in Spain. And both the Catalunyans and the Basques have made efforts to have their own autonomous countries.

Amazingly today, though it clouded up when we arrived, it never did rain, and the temperature was about 70 - warmer than normal for this time of year.

Part of my Easter holiday was spent in Bilbao, in the Basque Country, with friends.

3 days... eating pintxos, Rio Nervio, Guggenheim Museum, Dona Casilda Park, beach, Vizcaya Bridge, Plaza Moy˙a, La Plaza Nueva.

This morning, however, we managed pretty ...

Not much to report today. We got up in a warmer van this morning and made our plan for Bilbao. We read that parking in Bilbao is pretty awful so we opted for a campsite 30 minutes outside the city with a nearby metro stop that would take us in quickly. We decided on another two day stop there which meant we could take our time in arriving and only go into Bilbao the following morning. After breakfast we took a walk around ...

From Portugal I crossed the border into Spain. My destination was Santiago de Compostela. I was inspired to go there because of pictures that I had seen of the city and the Cathedral. The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is the end point of The Way of St James, a pilgrimage where people walk for days and days across the North of Spain. Not keen for the big walk, I took the train. It actually took three trains and most of the day to get ...
