    Getting around

There are many taxis, motorbike taxis and tricycles. However, they will often try to overcharge you if they know you are not a native of China, or Beihai. Haggling is customary, so do not be afraid to ask for a lower rate. Getting a taxi ride from the Shangri-La hotel to the train station is about 20 RMB. Taxis should use a meter; there is a surcharge of 1 to be paid in addition to the fare shown on the meter.

... coconut juice (really yummy, and soothing on my throat - think I am getting ill), and headed south. The intention was to find the number 6 bus and go to a stoney beach that was meant to be quite nice, but I waited for a while at a bus stop that said the 6 came too, and it just didn't. In the end I went to a tiny restaurant and had a point at a picture situation. Food was delicious though. Then I walked back to the hostel in an extremely roundabout ...
