... cruise winds along the Rhine to its conclusion. We brought on a third captain today so we can keep going through this afternoon and right through the night, arriving in Amsterdam early morning. At 3:45 pm we passed Cologne and its magnificent cathedral. Cologne, or Koln as it is known in Germany, is Germany's fourth largest city with a population of just over a million. The Romans founded Cologne in 50 AD because of its position next to a natural harbour. ...

... taken to his home in the Bonn suburb of Melhen, where he graciously let us stay for a couple of nights. There we met his wife, Renate and one of their daughters Julia. Julia is just finishing school and hoping to Au pair in Australia! Their other daughter is in Frankfurt for school. That night they took us to the downtown of Melhem for a nice meal and walk around where we could already see a castle perched on a hill overlooking the Rhine. The Rhine river has castles galore, it's ...

... an inflatable baseball bat! She hasn't lost hers yet... Chelsea didn't play any games, but she did buy this weird can't called a 'Lasso' that is basically just Apple flavored sugar. We also didn't go on any rides - they were all super intense upsidedowny spinny ones, and that's just really not our style. We enjoyed watching them though! Why have no idea why there was a massive fair on a Sunday in November, but it was awesome, and I'm so glad we stumbled upon ...
