... Canada truck pulled up and the driver asked if we'd like a lift. Naturally we said yes, and as there was no room inside the truck she told us to jump into the back. It was so much fun riding in the tray of this giant ute down this dirt road, and the driver was going at a nice speed. About 3kms after we were picked up we caught up to another group of about 6-7 people, so they joined us in the back of the ute. Good times :)

... on the back roads around our hometown of Golden,British Columbia. We go camping almost every weekend during the summer and love that this beautiful location we live in has so many awesome places to go. Sometimes we fish, sometimes we hike but whatever we do I will document here and hopefully some of you will find our backyard interesting.
Kind regards,
Sharon
While we were in Radium Hot Springs we signed up for a White Water Rafting adventure on the Kicking Horse River with Kootenay River Runners. This is a world class rafting river with multiple class 4 rapids in the lower canyon.
The day dawned chilly, rainy, misty, and foggy. Rafting does not cancel for the rain – you are going to get wet anyway. We arrived at the put-in site at noon. They served a barbeque steak lunch with fresh ...
... Falls. It is a 2.4 km (1.5 miles) hike to the falls. This is a large, high volume waterfall, but the view from below the falls is blocked by a rock embankment. This is probably due to large rocks breaking off as the waterfall works its way upstream – part of the natural erosion process. The real treat of the day was the hike back to the parking lot. We saw a black bear just a few yards from the trail. Fortunately, it was busy eating, had no cubs ...
Golden, British Columbia, Canada 2jgstl... Cummins service center. We could drive the five minutes to get there without overheating the engine. It is Saturday afternoon, but they were open and took us at 2:30. After getting the hose replaced along with 12 liters of anti-freeze, we came back to the campground, poured a drink, and crashed.
We had planned to do a little sightseeing in Yoho this afternoon, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.
... it's ever going to get warmer than 15C maybe 20C and it will rain and be cloudy and wierd. I don't think I believe in hot summers, blazing sunlight, and natural tans anymore. It's all a made-up fairytale. The world is really full of mild/cold, rainy, ugly weather with occasional sun just to keep away the depression. (Ah, the cacophony of phones all around me...stop the madness. I am answering them...I'm not a slacker!) Anyway, tip for travelers, BOOK ...
Banff, Alberta, Canada steph_444... itinerary. The downside of being out of New Zealand this week? While we were traveling the Rockies, Christo graduated in Wellington with his BSC Hons. Congratulations Christo - this is a well deserved and wonderful achievement amongst many. We are so sorry we weren't there to share the experience with you in person, but we will be there with you in Oxford in 2011.
Golden, British Columbia, Canada will_share... pre-ski.. Good place, a few drinking holes, and a few show football. Watched a few games in a bar, with cheap drinks, getting progressively battered as the place filled up, It got well busy, and had great atmosphere despite being on basement level of a shopping centre. A real fun night with loads of Aussies and a few Canadians. Plenty of Aussies as they work the ski-season here, staying for ...
Banff, Canada mothman... their amazing brownies! Yep, I'm getting addicted already! ;) Before we went to Aaron's sisters house where we were staying, we drove to an area with a lot of new houses in Kelowna. Apparently that is where all the loaded people live. Man, those houses are incredible! "If I had a million dollars, I'd buy you a house..." After a long day of driving it was nice to be in a real home and fall asleep in a comfortable bed.
