... br> I was surprised at the almost endless variation of the mountains we drove through. Prior to this trip I expected majestic mountains but fairly consistent scenery. What we found was that almost every turn showed different vistas and steadily changing character in the mountain range. Some tree covered and gracious, some desolate, and some with shear rock faces and a craggy, almost threatening presence.
