We flew to Miri on another 30-min prop plane flight. Seriously, I
love those flights. We found a place to stay, booked a trip to Niah
National Park, and then walked around the city. There was not really a
ton to it, and we ended up going for a swim at the public pool!
Unfortunately, the high-dives were closed (the boards were removed and
there was barbed wire on the ladder) due to people constantly getting
    hurt ...

Today we were able to see and experience a small part of Grace's life in Brunei.

Before we left the jungle pad I was treated to beans on toast (yes!) and honey in my tea (an enjoyable first). The girls are ganging up on me to make fun of my man cold but they're also doing an acceptable job of looking after me.

After breakfast we headed to the local sports centre, on the way making a stop at Grace's school. It was interesting to see her classroom ...

It took a bit of convincing to get my limbs back into gear but I made it back up the hill. Once back at the shelter I was trembling slightly and I sat back onto the bench. Just had to catch my breath a bit before making the hike back to HQ.

A few minutes later another couple managed to make their way up the hill. She was British and he Filipino, and like me they were happy to take a break. I couldn't ...

... on request. the best way to compare it to the others is "same same, but different". Miri is a large(ish) city in the semi autonomous state of Sarawak. It is similar to the cities in Sabah but there are a few key differences. The curbs, signs, and posts are all painted in black and white stripes. it is a lot more conservative and Islamic, each morning and evening the daily prayers are announced via some sort of loud speaker to the community. It scared ...

Flying in on a prop plane

... your luggage is small - check the photo! We ended-up walking the short distance down from the airport to D'Cave our home to be whilst at Mulu. Staying in Mulu National Park turned out to be prohibitively expensive (for those backpacking). At D'Cave we got a warm welcome and met Beckham Junior - nope not kidding this cheeky chappy is named after David and 'Beckham Junior' is the name on his school name tag. Great kid! Raser Cave tomorrow bright and ...
