Despite having an early night, I got up quite late. Kent was nowhere to be seen, he was in the lounge area! Breakfast was ok but I think that we were left with the dregs as it finishes at 10am! We took a walk into miri town that is only 1 km away along a main road although not very busy. The have just started to build Marina park, just down the road and the exhibition is in our hotel. The roads leading to it are in place, but ...

Then finally my roommate comes out and goes to the toilet and has breakfast before going back to bed (he didn’t look impressed to see me). And yes, in all those years, I have missed Miri with good reason, and will probably continue to do so once ...

... some delicious pineapple, after which we dropped off the boys at the long distance bus station (always good to know where to find that) and Jeannette drove me back into town. She was off to KL that weekend but we exchanged numbers so we could meet up when she gets back.

The rest of the afternoon I spent mall-hopping, one of my favourite activities back then, not really buying anything but just wandering around the different shops. I ended up at the roof of the Bintang Plaza, ...

... bus station; and we arrived more than an hour earlier than expected.

The road to Miri is scattered with palm oil fruit which has fallen off trucks that frequent the highway.

Traffic hurtles down here, overtaking at every opportunity and sadly there seems to be a lot of dead animals, namely dogs, along the side of the road as a result.

Both sides of the main road are compacted with large palm oil plantations, which is a ...
