      …That was one interesting hour…In Lucerne we had to pack up the soggy fish and headed to the next train…

      So I pose the question to you. WHAT would you add to an already smooth and quiet ride, so to pass the time, entertain your children and generally keep peace in a family while in a train for another 1.5 hours…?

      ... were spent taking pictures; it was really hard to do it justice, but we tried. We returned the same way in much less time and emerged blinking in the sunlight like a pair of cave creatures. Our ticket for the gorge (CHF15, about €12) also allowed us to use the funicular railway at Reichenbach Falls so we headed off there next.

      ... a lot brighter. The last stretch down to the station now. Josh made himself a giant snowball, lachy was still sucking on his giant icicle from the lake. We walked off the track up a hill to then be greeted by another view down into the valley. Huge snowballs rolled down hills, snow angels were made by all 3 and we walked the last stretch. We had a little look in a shop and waited for our train. The snow had started to melt here and when we travelled ...

      ... to our hotel and rested for a bit and then ventured out again. Interlaken is a very chirpy city and we had dinner in an Indian restaurant and the kids played in a city park for a bit and we called it a day. The next day was going to be an early start as we had to catch the 6:14am train.

      ... to have that extra time for sleep!

      Today we are driving from the beaches in Italy to the Alps in Switzerland. We were on the bus for 8 hours!! Just before we leave Italy for good, we skirt the shores of Lake Como. No stopping, but it was a gorgeous view and I got an 'okay' picture. I'd love to go back there someday! We made our usual rest stops and had lunch once we'd crossed the border. I had a very delicious vegetable soup, sparkling apple cider, and half of a ham ...
