... to pay the debts. Sir Henry was 19 when he inherited the property and 2500 acres in 1837. He had a strong interest in history, medieval architecture and archaeology, the place appealed to the young man, he gave up his studies at Cambridge and took control resolving to pay back the huge debt. ... Mandy joined me on a few of the walks, I was mostly on my on; walking alone on lovely Spring days..............if you were vaguely poetic you could say, 'I wandered lonely by a canal' (with apologies to William Wordsworth)!

... picked up, a lot, and there was a high pitched whistling sound in the cabin. I tried opening and closing the door, almost lost the curtains out the door, but nothing seemed to be working. After several attempts at leaning, pushing and generally trying to stop the whine a little ingenuity solved the problem.
