... to be the most amazing place. It was called Wakemup Camp in the Forest again on Vermillion Lake. It had a sandy beach with locals in swimming. It was really quite a warm day and after feeling the water, i quickly changed and went for a swim. Surprisingly not too cold. There was an island in the lake in front of us. Looked so inviting. ... br> We watched them getting fed by hand and learned a little bit about their habits and almost extinction due to bounties on their heads which were in place up until the 1950's. They looked like big dogs and the most interesting thing for me was the family tree that showed how many popular breeds of domestic dogs came into being, all of which originated with the wolf.

Not a bad way to spend a rainy day.

Minneapolis to Ely

Our destination being the town of Ely, which sits on the edge of an area called Boundary Waters, a series of lakes that are great for canoeing and spotting wildlife as well as serving as the border between the US and Canada.

It was in the high 50's when we arrived and raining, so no outdoor activities for us today. Headed off to the local steakhouse for some cow.
