Glendive-Days Inn

I drove over to Teddy Roosevelt National Park, near Mandan, and drove around the loop. This is the time of year when it has the most color. It was interesting to me to see the same places I saw last April, when it was winter. Quite a difference. I enjoyed watching the cute, fat prairie dogs. They whistled their alarms when they saw me and the air was filled with the sound of their whistles. Saw the bison, and one wild mustang.

First of all, Medora is in the middle of nowhere. It is also a very beautiful spot in the Badlands of North Dakota. Without the Theodore Roosevelt NP, not sure it would still be in existence.

In September of 1883 Theodore Roosevelt came to this part of North Dakota to hunt buffalo. He became so enamored of the area that before he headed back to New York he and two other men joined together and started a cattle business. The name of this venture was the Maltese Cross Ranch.

Here's some photos along the drive from Montana to Wisconsin. The buffalo was not staged, he was gone right after I took the picture. A guy at the park suggested I take a short hike down into the valley, I'm really glad I did. It was beautiful.

The gentleman at the service station spent a great deal of time trying to fix the sound from the engine this morning and finally we decided I could make it to Billings which was a few hours away but at least there would be a ford dealership there. Our whole trip here passed uneventful until we took our first turn to the KOA and then stalled ! We limped into the KOA as each time we slowed down ...

I had a weekend off, and drove from Bismarck, ND, through some of the North Dakota badlands, across the Lake Sakajawea bridge at New Town, ND, to Williston, to visit my brother Paul and his family.

... seeing. Too Bad we didn't get to look around...since we ended up leaving at 3:00 in the stinkin' morning! So....to make a long story short: we paid 12 bucks to sleep on a picnic table(Lazy bums can't be bothered to set up a tent in the dark) at a campsite that none of the water pumps worked.

... good, all in all, a little warm but hey, not bad. Looking in the mirror today, I realized just HOW MUCH sun I got sitting on the back of the ferry on Thursday. It was a rather nice and sunny day, but my face has a lot of freckles showing right now, not to badly burnt, just looking rather freckly. Not much to say here I drove from Moorhead to Glendive and bucked the wind the whole time got terible MPG's. I am at home for a couple days then back to moorhead with the fam to pack more then on the train to be with K8er and her fam for a day then to LA.
