Day 5 Update - 51 Miles

... this morning.

In the afternoon when we stopped on E. Kirby Rd at local market to stock up. I think it was a ShurFine. If you folks are out there, correct us with a comment and we'll fix it. Emily was really tired and stayed laying on the grass outside the store while we went in. Apparently she just conked right out. They made us the most amazing sandwichs -- huge and yummy. The ...

Convenient Overnight Stop

... all the towns/cities in Canada have outside patios!) Taking a look at Kingston from the visitors and downtown development perspective, it needs some sprucing up. Litter was a major problem and unkempt green spaces did not add to the ambiance. On a positive note, our waiter was very friendly and was a good spokesperson for general information about the colleges and ...

The old capital

... of assistants between the age of 12 and 100, who did not want to sell you anything - bizarre - actually more like the shop in Royston Vasey - 'a local shop for local people).

We took a pleasant walk through the city park which was surrounded by grand buildings (most of which looked like they needed renovation or were student accommodation) moving on to the sea fronted residents with lovely wooden ...

A day out

This is Jo's old stamping ground so on her recommendation we took a day out from our idyllic pad and went for a tour of the Thousand Island. One side of the island belongs to Canada and one side is the USA and it is not hard to identify which side is which as they are extremely proud of their countries to fly their national colours.  The sides of the lake are fairly full with homes and even some of the little islands ...

Isle of Skye

... petted my first hairy coos. I thought they looked rather fierce at first, but after I relaxed I realized they really are cute and friendly. I wouldn't want to annoy one though - the horns are ginormous. We got to the ferry to Skye too early so the useless guide drove us out to no where for no reason. L and I took a trail (there are trails everywhere here it seems) up a hill and sat alone for awhile and just enjoyed the beauty and peace of the hills. Finally back to ...

... ON THE PLANE - We were a little over an hour late leaving, but the pilot promises to get us there on time. The food was actually okay - I was quite surprised. No sleeping though. We flew across Ontario just north of Lake Ontario! We've never done that before. We saw Kingston - it looks tiny from the air. It was hard to even tell what we were seeing.

The depths

... br>Honduras literally means 'depths' in Spanish (so says Wikipedia). There is an area on the east coast that our atlas names Gracias a Dios. On first glance I thought, ' thanks to God, wow, that must be a pretty place'. Senica thought it sounded like a hellish place. Turns out he was right and it was named Gracias a Dios as in 'thank you God for getting us out of those depths'.
The more I learn, the mor I am sorry our trip is only a week!

Secret beach and hidden waterfall

On a winter hike, Senica took me to a waterfall where he used to play as a kid. It was amazing! I never knew this sort of scenery existed around here! Awesome!! As the sun started to set we found a deserted beach that the kids used to call the ...

My stop in Kingston

... someone else's eyes. Why is "My Reality" often different from "Your Reality"? I would like to thank everybody who sent a comment after my first email. They were greatly appreciated. Finally....Today (actually yesterday since the internet connection was not working last night when I tried uploading the pictures and sending this). After a busy weekend with RMC events, today was errand day. It started with some exercise. I decided to take my Mountain Bike out for a ride ...
