Historical Traveler Reviews Glebe Apartments Queenstown
First, one of the best locations in Queenstown, no too busy, no too noisy, minutes walking to shops, cafes and restaurants. The apartment has everything you need, spotless clean, good beds, safe, cosy and a great touch of luxury. We stayed 4 days with our 2 kids age 5 and 2, absolutely safe, the kids love it. It feels like home TV's in every room. Surely we will come back this is one of the more excellents apartments we have ever stayed 5 star!!
Marvellous Place, Lousy Service
6 of us have booked a 3 bedroom apartment for 3 nights and got upgraded to a 4 bedroom 3000 sq ft apartment for 2 nights. The apartment itself was marvellous, excellent location with walking distance to city center and private covered carpark, very very spacious with modern furniture and fully equipped kitchen.
However, the services was extremely poor. We can feel the discrimination against Asian tourists by the reception lady named Sue. Her attitude and service towards us was very unattentive. She was unwilling to call the toll free weather check phone for our paragilding event and did not try her best endeavour to book handgilding for us. Absolutely disappointed about the service!
Didn't want to leave
My husband, our 13-year old daugther and I stayed at 'The Glebe' from 1 - 10 January 2007. We had booked a 2-bedroom lakeview apartment but were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to a penthouse (Wow!). Very spacious, luxurious rooms and bathrooms. Very clean as serviced daily (and I AM fussy). Large, fully equipped kitchen (we've saved quite a lot of money by cooking our own breakfast daily and also some dinners), dining area and living area open to a wide rooftop veranda with beautiful mountain- and lake views. Staff was very friendly and helpful with selecting and booking activities. The hotel apparently is quite new so everything is modern and well maintained. We would love to come back during the winter season to experience the fire place in the living area and the underfloor heating (must be bliss after a day of skiing).
Stayed here from 6 Dec - 10 Dec 2006 for our wedding anniv. (we were without the kids and wanted somewhere special and 5*)
We had booked a 2 bedroom apartment and on arrival we had been upgraded to a four bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment!
It was fabulous. Furnished beautifully, modern but homely, and so so spacious!!! Full kitchen, laundry room, 3 balconys and daily service. Wonderful view over to the lake and also over towards the gondolas. All the staff were incredibly friendly, and just a short 3 minute walk to town.... really! Great location.
Some units may not have views, with apartments looking onto a large internal courtyard area which has been well planted/paved. However don't let this put you off, the complex is well maintained, and quiet too. We had a fantastic stay at The Glebe Apartments and would highly recommend.

Didn't want to leave
We spent four nights at the Glebe in Queenstown and we were lucky enough to be upgraded. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and our room was amazing. We almost wanted to stay in every day to enjoy the luxury rather than see the sights of beautiful Queenstown!! Our stay at the Glebe was a real highlight of our trip for all of the family and we can't wait to return next year.
Loved the Glebe
We were in Queenstown for 5 days over the new year and stayed at the Glebe. The location was wonderful. I had views over the lake and the accomdations were lovely apartments. We had a three bedroom unit that had three baths and a full kitchen. Queenstown is small so walking was easy. Shops, restaurants and the grocery stores were very near by. Ann who ran the office/building, was wonderful in helping to book excursions. Overall it was fantastic and we will definately go back should we have the chance.
Side not - we did a horseback ride through dart stables in glenorchy- beautiful!

We woke up to some welcomed sunshine and blue sky this morning. Gary whipped up some bacon, poached eggs and muffins for brunch. We took a stroll down to the waterfront and pottered around the arts and crafts market. I treated Gary to a Argillite pendant which we plan to convert into a bracelet for him, as they don't seem to do many here. Gaz got …
I woke up.
It was 8am, I was a bit sore from the paintball the day before. I went and had
a shower got my clothes on for today’s advancer. I’m going to the Skyline Luge.
It is an Advanced Track that has a steeper gradient and is a more
adventurous ride with the thrill of banked corners, tunnels, dippers and
cuttings. It looks like it will be fun. I went down to the hotel restaurant. I

The day was finished off by an amazing dinner made by mum of butterflied roast lamb cooked to perfection (with a special sauce and other secret ingredients) and a beautiful rocket, feta and roast vegetable salad. It was amazing! Way better then the fine dining at Mt Cook! ...
... and I wasn't feeling all that hungry anyway. So Dais and our friend had them. They got some bread rolls to go with it which Dais flung over her back in the little plastic bag parading around the place pretending to be Dick Whittington. While our friend was paying for the shanks Dais was fiddling with all the pick and mix sweet boxes. The cashier was watching her closely as she flipped the lids up and down and then headed out chewing really obviously one of the sweets she had just ...
This morning was another early start, as we were met by our guide, Ian, at 7 50 am to head off on the journey to Milford Sound.
It was lightly raining, but we bumbled on, oblivious to the storm that was brewing around us.
The wind and rain began to pick up, creating a rather beautiful double rainbow, but began to cause problems as, as we drove, the doors to the side of the bus kept blowing open!
The rain became torrential, ...
