Well, moving around in New Zealand is a heck of fun. We've met plenty of Kiwis ( the people, not the birds or fruit. Seriously, couldn't they have thought of different names for the three? ) over the past couple days and I'm still convinced that they are the friendliest people on the planet. I mean, THE friendliest. They're also really eager to …
Today we went on a jet boat ride. The river was see through, because it was just the snow that had fallen off the mountain that the river was beside. The river goes through a canyon. The guide drove a half meter away from the wall of the canyon! We did lots of 360s, the first one we got soaked! The boat goes 80 to 85 KMPH! The ride is twenty-five …
So after working 9 days in a row, on my first day off it decided to snow. Which, as lovely as it be, meant that visibility for skiing would be pretty bad. In the end, we decided to go to the local cinema (courtesy of Ferg) followed by what we thought would be a Sushi dinner. Alas, Pete took us to a Japanese Sake Bar (which he had earlier visited with our Sake-Master friend, Dave) where we proceeded to nibble upon some unidentifiable ...
... a certain time. Drinks are limited to single measures and one per person and water is your only option if you approach the bar in a less than sober state. It’s actually quite refreshing that with all the talk about sensible drinking and trying to curb binge drinking that here is a country that actually does something about it. The UK could learn from our southern hemisphere buddies if our government decided they ever REALLY wanted to tackle ...
... for a burger :-)!
The following day I had a bit of a lie-in, it was so nice to not have to wake up really early and get on the bus for a change. I slept in until about 10am and felt so good when I woke up. I had breakfast and set off for the day. I hiked up to the Skyline gondola, which is where they have a luging track like the one I went to in Rotorua. I decided not to go luging here because I'd already done it a few weeks ago ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Glebe Apartments Queenstown
First, one of the best locations in Queenstown, no too busy, no too noisy, minutes walking to shops, cafes and restaurants. The apartment has everything you need, spotless clean, good beds, safe, cosy and a great touch of luxury. We stayed 4 days with our 2 kids age 5 and 2, absolutely safe, the kids love it. It feels like home TV's in every room. Surely we will come back this is one of the more excellents apartments we have ever stayed 5 star!!
Marvellous Place, Lousy Service
6 of us have booked a 3 bedroom apartment for 3 nights and got upgraded to a 4 bedroom 3000 sq ft apartment for 2 nights. The apartment itself was marvellous, excellent location with walking distance to city center and private covered carpark, very very spacious with modern furniture and fully equipped kitchen.
However, the services was extremely poor. We can feel the discrimination against Asian tourists by the reception lady named Sue. Her attitude and service towards us was very unattentive. She was unwilling to call the toll free weather check phone for our paragilding event and did not try her best endeavour to book handgilding for us. Absolutely disappointed about the service!
My husband, our 13-year old daugther and I stayed at 'The Glebe' from 1 - 10 January 2007. We had booked a 2-bedroom lakeview apartment but were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to a penthouse (Wow!). Very spacious, luxurious rooms and bathrooms. Very clean as serviced daily (and I AM fussy). Large, fully equipped kitchen (we've saved quite a lot of money by cooking our own breakfast daily and also some dinners), dining area and living area open to a wide rooftop veranda with beautiful mountain- and lake views. Staff was very friendly and helpful with selecting and booking activities. The hotel apparently is quite new so everything is modern and well maintained. We would love to come back during the winter season to experience the fire place in the living area and the underfloor heating (must be bliss after a day of skiing).
Stayed here from 6 Dec - 10 Dec 2006 for our wedding anniv. (we were without the kids and wanted somewhere special and 5*)
Didn't want to leave
We spent four nights at the Glebe in Queenstown and we were lucky enough to be upgraded. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and our room was amazing. We almost wanted to stay in every day to enjoy the luxury rather than see the sights of beautiful Queenstown!! Our stay at the Glebe was a real highlight of our trip for all of the family and we can't wait to return next year.
Loved the Glebe
We were in Queenstown for 5 days over the new year and stayed at the Glebe. The location was wonderful. I had views over the lake and the accomdations were lovely apartments. We had a three bedroom unit that had three baths and a full kitchen. Queenstown is small so walking was easy. Shops, restaurants and the grocery stores were very near by. Ann who ran the office/building, was wonderful in helping to book excursions. Overall it was fantastic and we will definately go back should we have the chance.
Side not - we did a horseback ride through dart stables in glenorchy- beautiful!
