Historical Traveler Reviews Glebe Apartments Queenstown
First, one of the best locations in Queenstown, no too busy, no too noisy, minutes walking to shops, cafes and restaurants. The apartment has everything you need, spotless clean, good beds, safe, cosy and a great touch of luxury. We stayed 4 days with our 2 kids age 5 and 2, absolutely safe, the kids love it. It feels like home TV's in every room. Surely we will come back this is one of the more excellents apartments we have ever stayed 5 star!!
Marvellous Place, Lousy Service
6 of us have booked a 3 bedroom apartment for 3 nights and got upgraded to a 4 bedroom 3000 sq ft apartment for 2 nights. The apartment itself was marvellous, excellent location with walking distance to city center and private covered carpark, very very spacious with modern furniture and fully equipped kitchen.
However, the services was extremely poor. We can feel the discrimination against Asian tourists by the reception lady named Sue. Her attitude and service towards us was very unattentive. She was unwilling to call the toll free weather check phone for our paragilding event and did not try her best endeavour to book handgilding for us. Absolutely disappointed about the service!
Didn't want to leave
My husband, our 13-year old daugther and I stayed at 'The Glebe' from 1 - 10 January 2007. We had booked a 2-bedroom lakeview apartment but were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to a penthouse (Wow!). Very spacious, luxurious rooms and bathrooms. Very clean as serviced daily (and I AM fussy). Large, fully equipped kitchen (we've saved quite a lot of money by cooking our own breakfast daily and also some dinners), dining area and living area open to a wide rooftop veranda with beautiful mountain- and lake views. Staff was very friendly and helpful with selecting and booking activities. The hotel apparently is quite new so everything is modern and well maintained. We would love to come back during the winter season to experience the fire place in the living area and the underfloor heating (must be bliss after a day of skiing).
Stayed here from 6 Dec - 10 Dec 2006 for our wedding anniv. (we were without the kids and wanted somewhere special and 5*)
We had booked a 2 bedroom apartment and on arrival we had been upgraded to a four bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment!
It was fabulous. Furnished beautifully, modern but homely, and so so spacious!!! Full kitchen, laundry room, 3 balconys and daily service. Wonderful view over to the lake and also over towards the gondolas. All the staff were incredibly friendly, and just a short 3 minute walk to town.... really! Great location.
Some units may not have views, with apartments looking onto a large internal courtyard area which has been well planted/paved. However don't let this put you off, the complex is well maintained, and quiet too. We had a fantastic stay at The Glebe Apartments and would highly recommend.

Didn't want to leave
We spent four nights at the Glebe in Queenstown and we were lucky enough to be upgraded. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and our room was amazing. We almost wanted to stay in every day to enjoy the luxury rather than see the sights of beautiful Queenstown!! Our stay at the Glebe was a real highlight of our trip for all of the family and we can't wait to return next year.
Loved the Glebe
We were in Queenstown for 5 days over the new year and stayed at the Glebe. The location was wonderful. I had views over the lake and the accomdations were lovely apartments. We had a three bedroom unit that had three baths and a full kitchen. Queenstown is small so walking was easy. Shops, restaurants and the grocery stores were very near by. Ann who ran the office/building, was wonderful in helping to book excursions. Overall it was fantastic and we will definately go back should we have the chance.
Side not - we did a horseback ride through dart stables in glenorchy- beautiful!

... for the same. I'm excited to try my new snow board out and see what the nightlife has to offer. First impressions for me, amazing! I have visited this place in the summer and couldn't believe what I had just witnessed coming from Christchurch, so much life! The lake is beautiful, surrounded by mountains and forestry, it's got a very Canadian feel to it I think. I am happy to say that me and ...
... bike ride I can remember, alongside Lake Wakatipu. I return back and change hostels and meet Joanne for a catch-up.
I then meet Mervi & head up the Gondola (cable car) to see some great views of Queenstown. We also buy tickets to ride the luge (go-kart) part of the way down. I think I must be the slowest rider as people catch me up on the track! Two turns and we take the gondola back down, sit by the harbour and eat a well ...
... anchored near to here in 1642 in Golden Bay; the park was founded in 1942, 300 years after his visit, and named after him. It has become one of NZ’s most popular Great Walks - a coastline track lasting 3-4 days, 40-50 km or so long, which skims along the North Coast, crossing beaches and inlets, and along forest paths. Sometimes there are tidal crossings needing good timing and boots off (actually sometimes water up to your bottoms!) which were really fun. You can ...
NZ Mount Cook to Queenstown, South Island After our previous day's picture frenzy of Mount Cook, Sat dawned clear and sunny for our trip to Queenstown. Still a few last pics against a clear blue sky were needed especially as we watched a bank of clouds literally roll down the face of the rocky mountain face adjacent to Mount Cook. Incredible. We reversed our journey back around Lake Pukaki to join the highway south to Queenstown which became ...
... quicker - a very nice Grant Burge (or two). Think we may well eat in tonight as the food service is guaranteed to be brilliant and wine service super quick. It will also give Barry night off from driving and we can enjoy the view of the lake and the mountains which now have sprinkling of snow on top! Brrrr... The bad news is that today looking like another poor day for weather but the good news is that it's looking good for our Milford sound trip ...
