... following day. We grabbed the hire car and headed off up the coast rather than take the freeway. Great roads and being a Saturday, it wasn't that busy. Lovely scenery along the way and an interesting border crossing. In order to drive from Dubrovnik to Split - both in Croatia, you need to pass through Bosnia for about 15 km. so 2 border crossings - out of Croatia and then back into it. We'd heard of some horror stories ...

... Just as in Venice, you need to give in to the streets and allow yourself to get lost within the labyrinth. We spent our first day wandering around and enjoying views of the palace.

... had to get changed into warmer clothes including shoes and socks which didn't feel good at all after I'd been wearing sandals for the past week. We had a few hours to fill before heading to the airport and ended up having a picnic lunch in a park until it was time to leave.
