Austria to Norway is almost too good to be true.

... Einar, a space we can hire to get us undercover so I can carry out the necessary repairs out of the elements. Replacing the head gasket is as big a job as I would want to tackle on the road and comes with the potential for increased stress levels. Unfortunately you never know how well it has gone until some thousands of kilometre later, although fitting a new head as well as a head gasket should help I hope.

Wish us luck!

We left Sweden today and headed up to Norway, one of the spots to be for winter sports with quite beautiful landscapes - but more on that tomorrow as it is the best driving day for views. Today was mostly about driving as we spent around 6 hours on the bus as we made our way to the bobsled runs at Lillehammer. It was too warm for ice and we had wheel bobs instead, but fear not we were still reaching speeds of 100+ km/h with ...

A perfect day - forgetting our troubles on Sunday

Today we forgot out bike troubles and had a wonderful day, a perfect day of sunshine, swimming and enjoying nature. We set off after breakfast down to the river. We have been hearing it pouring down the narrow valley since we got here but hadn’t yet taken the time to search for a way down the steep cliffs to the water. Getting to the water wasn’t as hard as we expected - or we just fortunately happened to come across the way down straight away. ...

So here we are in the forest and it’s very beautiful but we are trapped here in a sense because Nina doesn't go. Again. I am ready to walk away from this stupid idea, I don’t love Nina, I don’t even like her a little any more. I hate her. I don’t now how it’s possible that a bike can have so many problems, how can so many things go wrong so often? I was trying so hard - and doing a very good job of staying positive and happy when we ...

A lesson in kindness

Last night as Felix was making a lot of noise tuning Nina after pulling her apart again a man came out of the bushes between us and the road and gave us a little fright. He spoke a little english but managed to explain we were keeping his children awake with the noise. Felix apologised profusely and explained we were broken down and waiting for the mechanic to open in the morning. The man then said he had a little hytte down by the lake and offered it to us for the night.
