... quite heavy luggage for me all the way up and down 3 flights of stairs. This kind first impression did not halt when I met more students from Lillehammer! The college has a program called "International Buddies." These "buddies" plan activities for all of the International Students to get to know each other and other Norwegian students. There are at least 2 ...
Lillehammer, Norway erfarenorge... museums to visit here. Hunderfossen is a very small village but home to the Bob-sleigh track. Here you can travel in a wheel bob in the summer for 190 NoK (a bob sleigh where the blades have been replaced by wheels and you are caged in). Completing the course in around 70 seconds, you can reach a speed approaching 100 km/h and a force of 3 G. Alot of money for just over a minute, is you don't like roller-coasters don't try ...
Lillehammer, Norway sd0744... in Norway is your family from?)'' My vocabulary is limited, my grammer still developing, but I went through this utter transformation of nervousness to actually following the whole conversation, all in Norwegian!! I couldn't contribute too much, but for 5.5 hours I was completely immersed in the language without having to use more than a few sentences of English. This was the turning point that I needed if I want to continue my progression in ...
Lillehammer, Norway olsencv... take some photos then. It is colder there than in Hamar and during the day is minus 20 so I will be putting the good old Kathmandu thermals to the test! Then on the weekend one of Wenche's friends has a son who plays in a band so we are going to his concert and then to spend the night with Wenche's parents in the countryside. I'm really looking forward to it. The whole of Norway is spectacular and though most of the rivers and lakes are frozen ...
Hamar, Norway mooskaa... and I don't know if the embassy will have that program or not. I hope it works!! Anyway, I spent most of my day with this guy trying to get these papers sent off. I gave him my contact info in case the files don't work, so I can try to find a way to save them as JPEGs or something easier to open. Then, when we had sent the e-mail and tried the fax one last time, he asked me if I would be at class tomorrow. When I told him no, not tomorrow, but perhaps ...
Hamar, Norway mannalie... about 6 episodes per sitting. We're now done with the 2nd season and have managed to get the 1st season so that's what we were watching last night. Anyway, we stayed up late watching the show, then I got up this morning just in time to catch the train at 8am from Hamar for the 1 1/2 hour ride to Oslo. Rita and I checked in at IKM, then went to the office for the Student Teacher organization that Rita is an active member of. It was fun to be there ...
Hamar, Norway mannalie... them how different Norway is in education and local/regional politics, offering an alternative perspective on how things can be achieved through cooperation between political parties. English is the language the common language between the Norwegians and a few of the politicians, so every couple of sentences had to be translated into Serbian, and questions translated into English. It was a long, tiring process to do a lecture, and these politicians were ...
Lillehammer, Norway olsencv... played a role in his presentation, and I've decided it is the theme that I want to explore more in my field study paper. Tomorrow I go down to Oslo with Rita again to meet and check in at IKM and see what they think of the translations that we have completed so far. I am also hoping I will be able to formulate a good question on the train ride down in order to be able to make use of resources available to me there to help me write the paper.
Hamar, Norway mannalie... e there when we arrived, but I got the chance to talk with some of the people who were standing around the bar that I probably wouldn't have been able to talk to otherwise. I met Stan, who told me he could give me guitar lessons, with a beer for each lesson as payment. He was the live musical entertainment for the night, and I'm quite excited to go buy a beer or two and get some lessons, especially after hearing him play and sing. He was quite good! We ...
