... jolly band and then went to do the laundry. Now this is the only way to do the laundry...you put it in the machine and then go and soak in the jacuzzi in the sunshine; then you take it out and put it in the dryer and have a glass of wine by the pool. Washday has never been so much fun!

... views to the South and we can watch the cruise ships come into Funchal Harbour and the catamarans, sailings ships and fishing boats go out far below us.
We found all the facilities to be of 5star quality with efficient and friendly staff.
The restaurant serves a range of excellent a la carte dishes albeit a bit on the expensive side. We enjoyed an excellent New Year's Eve Banquet; very good buffet and sampled the Madeiran traditional Kebab skewers ...
Flora and Fauna

There are of course many foreign imported plants here especiallly in the cultivated gardens such as the South African Protea and the agapanthus which is planted and grows alongside the roads to help strengthen the soil, cycads,fuchsias, azaleas,acacias from Australia, the Scottish heather which has become an important crop to farmers so the mature bushes can be cut to make brush fencing. Sailing Along
... fishermen hailed us and said they had seen a pod of pilot whales so we raced out to find them but they didn't re-surface instead we found a large pod of spotted dolphins with their young who were very playful alongside the boat. It is very hard to get a good picture as they as quick and we only have a standard digital camera. Colin got the best shot of one leaping out the water.

North Island Tour
... and many of the farmers are restoring them now they are getting assistance from the government.
We stopped at our last stop to have a glass of freshly made 'poncho' a delicious home made cocktail made with lemons, honey and and cane rum. A superb day out and highly recommended to all who may visit here. Ask for Lawrence he was great. Of course in bad weather this trip could be extremely hazardous especially the mountainside winding roads by the cliffs.
