... my cousin Lydia and I sighted clothing sales in nearby shops; and all attempts to enculturate us was shattered?!

It's 3:15pm, time for the obligatory "Kaffee und Kuchen" - German afternoon tea for the uninitiated! It's must and a delightful tradition! Some more window shopping, a snack of "Currywurst" before we set of home to Schwuelper to rest our weary bones in anticipation of getting Libby from the Hannover Airport in the morning.

It's Autumn in North Germany. The cooler weather and fog is evidence that I may use one of the inherited jackets from Aunty Mia, to venture out with my hosts and experience the family program that awaits me.

... climb the church tower (280 steps) which gave great views over the town and surrounding land. (In Amsterdam you pay €7.50 to climb the Westerkerk church tower!)

All in all a pleasant, picturesque town, with affordable cafes and parking and friendly people, though most visitors were a bit old. Made me feel so young!

After 20 hours of planes, trains, and automobiles, we have arrived safely at our destination and can once again sleep in a horizontal position. We couldn't figure out how to use the GPS system in the Mercedes Benz rental! So grateful we had the iPad to come to the rescue. We are staying at the edge of a lake, and had dinner al fresco. I think it might we might call it gyros German style, with red cabbage and French ...
