After our pleasant 21/2 hour ride on the speed train, we arrived in beautiful Florence. Taxis are all lined up to the left of the train station. You stand in line for your turn for the next cab. After only a few minutes we are off to the Oltrarno side across the Arno river.

... bit the water went down, so we were able to get into the Doge's Palace and St. Marks! The Doge's Palace (recently remodeled to accommodate my four legged friend, the high ruler of Venice and the world) was beautiful. And in case you were wondering all this time, Doge means leader. It was almost as pretty as Versailles, but more Italian. St. Marks was also lovely, but prettier on the outside than on the inside (once the flood waters receded).

... museum. I really liked the museum. The main attraction was, of course, Michelangelo's David, the famous statue. It was in the middle of hallway with teams of tourists all around it.
